Repeat offenders arrested in twin operations; police seize heroin worth ₹4 lakh, probe supply network and invoke stringent NDPS action.

In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Yamunanagar Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers and recovered 96 grams of heroin (smack) worth nearly ₹4 lakh in two separate raids conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Cell. The accused, several of whom have multiple criminal cases related to drug trafficking, have been booked under the NDPS Act and remanded to police custody for further investigation.
Police spokesperson said the action was carried out under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district’s ongoing campaign against narcotics.
In the first operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell received information that a youth was attempting to sell narcotics near the Pratap Nagar Grain Market. Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Sub-Inspector Naveen apprehended the suspect in the presence of Duty Magistrate Ravinder, Naib Tehsildar, Bilaspur. A search led to the recovery of 36 grams of heroin from Salman alias Tony, a resident of Pratap Nagar. Police said one NDPS case was already pending against him.
In another operation, police received intelligence that two men were entering Yamunanagar from Uttar Pradesh through the Kalanaur border carrying narcotics on a motorcycle. A police team intercepted the duo during naka checking and recovered 30 grams of heroin each, taking the total seizure in the second operation to 60 grams.
The accused were identified as Arshdeep alias Golu of Azad Nagar and Naved of Shanti Colony. Police said Arshdeep has 16 criminal cases, while Naved has 11 cases, many of them related to narcotics. Investigators suspect both have been involved in drug trafficking for a long time.
All three accused were produced before the court and taken on police remand. Officials said the investigation will focus on identifying the source of the heroin, the intended recipients and the wider drug distribution network. Police also confirmed that the assets of the two habitual offenders will be examined and proceedings under the PIT NDPS Act will also be initiated.
Two Burglars Arrested, Stolen Property Recovered in Chhachhrauli
The Chhachhrauli Police have arrested two alleged burglars and recovered stolen property in connection with a house theft reported from Chuharpur village. Both accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
According to the police spokesperson, the arrests were made under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district police’s drive against property crimes.
Station House Officer Vedpal said the case was registered following a complaint by Rameshwar Das, a resident of Chuharpur village. The complainant stated that he and his wife had gone to work on August 5, during which two thieves allegedly broke into their house and stole valuables.
A police team led by ASI Vedpal launched an investigation and successfully traced the suspects. The accused were identified as Rukhsar, son of Irshad and a resident of Malikpur Khadar, and Rohit alias Lalit, son of Rishipal and a resident of Chuharpur.
Following their arrest, the stolen property was recovered. After completing the necessary legal formalities, both accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. Police said further investigation is underway.
