Rang-E-Hunar Talent Search Programme Showcases Students’ Creative Skills at Sant Nischal Singh College
A colourful Rang-E-Hunar talent search programme was organised at Sant Nischal Singh College of Education for Women, Santpura, Yamunanagar, under the aegis of the Youth and Cultural Department of Kurukshetra University. The programme provided B.Ed students with an opportunity to present their creative abilities through a range of cultural and performing arts activities and to gain confidence through participation on stage.
Rang-E-Hunar is designed as a talent platform where participants can showcase skills in singing, dancing, acting, instrumental music, poetry, comedy and other creative activities. At the college, the initiative was organised with the objective of giving students a supportive platform where they could identify, develop and present their individual talents. Such activities also provide students with opportunities to strengthen confidence, communication and leadership skills beyond the regular classroom environment.
Programme Begins With Traditional Ceremonial Opening
The programme was inaugurated by college principal Dr Jaspreet Kaur, who lit the ceremonial lamp. The opening was followed by the singing of the college shabad, setting a formal and cultural tone for the event. Students from both the first and second years of the B.Ed programme then participated in a series of colourful presentations, displaying their skills before the gathering.
The performances reflected a broad range of interests among the students. From music and dance to literary and creative activities, participants used the platform to express themselves and demonstrate their preparation. The programme also gave students an opportunity to interact with one another in a competitive yet encouraging environment.
Students Shine in Singing, Instrumental Music and Dance
The singing competition saw Prachi secure the first position, while Palak was placed second. In the instrumental category, Nishi presented her performance and emerged as the winner. The performances were appreciated by those present and reflected the students’ interest in developing their musical abilities alongside their academic pursuits.
The solo dance competition also witnessed enthusiastic participation. Saanvi and Shikha jointly secured the first position, while Prabhnoor and Roshni were placed second. Jasmin and Kanika secured the third position. Sunaina and Meenakshi were recognised with consolation prizes for their participation.
The variety of performances ensured that the talent search was not restricted to a single art form. Students were encouraged to participate according to their interests and strengths, making the programme a broader platform for creative expression.
Certificates and Mementos Presented to Participants
Certificates and mementos were also presented to students who participated in other talent-show activities, including painting, quiz, speech, poetry, play and mimicry. Dr Jaspreet Kaur presented the certificates and mementos to the winners and participants, recognising their efforts and encouraging them to continue developing their creative interests.
The recognition of students across different categories was intended to acknowledge varied forms of talent rather than limiting appreciation to conventional stage performances. By providing space for painting, literary activities, public speaking and theatre-related skills, the programme offered students a wider opportunity to explore areas in which they may have an interest or natural ability.
Platform to Build Confidence and Leadership
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jaspreet Kaur said programmes of this nature provide students with a platform to move forward and polish their hidden talents. She emphasised the importance of giving students opportunities where they can come before an audience, present their abilities and learn through participation.
The event also highlighted the role of co-curricular activities in the overall development of students preparing for the teaching profession. Opportunities involving public performance, teamwork, communication and creative expression can help students develop qualities that are useful both during their training and in their future professional lives as educators.
Faculty Support Helps Students Take the Stage
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mrs Rekha Sharma and Mrs Ishu. They said that providing students with such platforms is an effort to help them assess their abilities, bring their talent before an audience and gain experience through participation. Their guidance and supervision supported the students during the various activities held as part of the talent search.
The programme was anchored by Divyani and Muskan, who conducted the proceedings and helped maintain the flow of the event. Their role added to the overall coordination of the programme and ensured that the different performances and award presentations were presented before the gathering in an organised manner.
Encouraging Creativity Beyond the Classroom
The Rang-E-Hunar programme provided students with a space to demonstrate abilities that may not always find expression through academic activities alone. Participation in music, dance, theatre, poetry, painting, quiz and public speaking gave students opportunities to experiment with different forms of creative expression and learn from the experience of performing or presenting before others.
The event concluded with recognition of the participating students and appreciation for their efforts. The organisers said that continued encouragement of such activities can help students discover their strengths, develop confidence and approach future opportunities with greater self-belief.
