35 Teachers Honoured with ‘Guru Devo Bhava’ Awards in Yamunanagar
Thirty-five teachers from government and private schools across Yamunanagar district were honoured with the ‘Guru Devo Bhava’ Awards at a special felicitation programme organised by Sarv Jagrook Sangathan at Bal Bhawan in Model Town on Sunday.
The programme was organised to recognise the contribution of teachers and acknowledge their role in shaping the lives of students and contributing to society. Teachers from different educational institutions across the district were presented with awards in the presence of senior officials, educationists and other guests.
Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jaspal Gill attended the programme as chief guests. DAV Public School Principal Vijay Kashiv and former Principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Dr Pratima Sharma, were also present. The programme was conducted by film actor and performer Gurmeet Chawla, known as Junior Jaspal Bhatti.
35 teachers recognised for their contribution
Dr Payal Rawat, founder and CEO of Sarv Jagrook Sangathan and organiser of the programme, said 35 teachers from different government and private schools in the district were selected for the ‘Guru Devo Bhava’ Awards.
Those honoured included Manpreet Walia, Alka, Vandana Gambhir, Kamal Madan, Suraj Bhan, Surinder Kaur, Manisha, Manish Sharma, Sonia Kamboj, Mamta, Kiran Bala, Sunaina Malik, Sonia Kohli, Ashish Bhatia, Deepika Anand, Manpreet Kaur, Pratibha Mudgal, Khushboo, Dr Bhavana Sharma, Anju, Lavnish Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Surinder Singh, Praveen Kumari, Ramcharan, Balwinder Saini, Neeru Saroha, Seema Dutt, Charanjit Kaur, Rashmi Verma, Mamta Verma, Komal, Palak, Neha and Vandana.
The organisers said the awards were intended to recognise the commitment of teachers and highlight the importance of the teaching profession in the development of students and society.
SP, SDM underline teachers’ role as nation builders
Addressing the teachers, SP Kamaldeep Goyal and SDM Jaspal Gill said teachers are traditionally regarded as nation builders because of their influence on students and their role in shaping future generations.
They urged teachers to take pride in the responsibility associated with their profession and to perform their duties with a spirit of service rather than treating teaching as merely a formal obligation.
The officials said receiving an award should not only be seen as recognition of past work but also as an encouragement to shoulder greater responsibility towards students and society. They also highlighted the lasting influence of teachers in an individual’s life, observing that almost everyone receives inspiration, guidance or learning from a teacher at some point in life.
Cultural performances add colour to the programme
The award ceremony also featured cultural moments, with several teachers presenting inspirational as well as popular film songs. The performances created a lively atmosphere during the event and provided an opportunity for teachers and guests to participate beyond the formal award presentation.
The organisers said the programme was designed not only to honour teachers but also to create an environment where educators could come together, share experiences and celebrate their profession.
Organisers express gratitude to guests and teachers
Representatives of Sarv Jagrook Sangathan, including founder and CEO Dr Payal Rawat, Neha Gariyal, Nitin Grover, Ashish Thapa, Ishika and Pooja, were present during the programme. Dr Payal Rawat thanked the chief guests, other dignitaries, teachers and participants for attending the event and supporting the initiative.
The organisers said recognising teachers through such programmes is intended to encourage them and acknowledge their contribution to education and community life. The event concluded with arrangements for refreshments and food for the guests and participants by Sarv Jagrook Sangathan.
The programme brought together educators from different institutions and provided a platform to publicly recognise their work.
