‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyan’ to run for 100 weeks across Haryana, with Kurukshetra hosting the state-level launch

In a major initiative aimed at steering young people away from substance abuse and encouraging their active participation in nation-building, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyan’ on August 2, 2026. The campaign will be launched virtually across nearly 10,000 locations nationwide, where the Prime Minister is expected to address more than one crore youth, urging them to take a pledge for a drug-free India and contribute towards the vision of a Developed India (Viksit Bharat). In Haryana, the state-level programme will be organised in Kurukshetra, where Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh will attend as the chief guest. The event is expected to witness participation from thousands of students, youth organisations, educational institutions, voluntary groups and social organisations from across the state. State Government to Ensure Maximum Youth Participation The Haryana Government said the campaign will be implemented under the guidance of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, with a special focus on mobilising young people to join the anti-drug movement. Officials said the state administration will make extensive efforts to ensure maximum participation throughout the campaign, encouraging youth to play an active role in combating substance abuse while contributing positively to society. Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda will also support the initiative, while the Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Department, under the leadership of Minister of State Gaurav Gautam, will function as the nodal agency responsible for coordination, implementation and monitoring of the campaign across Haryana. 100-Week Statewide Awareness Drive Unlike a one-day event, the campaign will continue in Haryana for the next 100 weeks, with awareness activities scheduled every Sunday. The programme will include youth-led awareness drives, community outreach, educational activities and creative campaigns aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community participation and inspiring young people to contribute constructively to nation-building. To maximise outreach, the state government has instructed all universities to ensure collective viewing of the Prime Minister’s address. Government and private colleges affiliated with universities will also organise special programmes with large-scale student participation. Schools, colleges, youth clubs, voluntary organisations and community groups across villages and cities will actively participate in spreading the campaign’s message against drug abuse. Officials said the sustained initiative seeks to transform the anti-drug movement into a people’s campaign by encouraging young citizens to remain drug-free and motivate others to stay away from substance abuse. “The youth of today are the greatest strength of a developed Haryana and a developed India. Every young person should resolve to remain free from drugs, create awareness about their harmful effects and actively contribute to building a healthier and stronger society,” the statement said.
