Naveen Jindal reviews Yamunanagar development schemes and calls for coordinated action on pollution, public services and welfare programmes

Kurukshetra MP and District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee chairperson Naveen Jindal reviews implementation of development and welfare schemes, while Ambala MP Varun Chaudhary calls for faster completion of delayed works
Development Schemes Reviewed at District Secretariat
Yamunanagar’s District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, commonly known as the DISHA Committee, met at the District Secretariat on Friday to review the progress of development schemes and public welfare programmes being implemented in the district. The meeting was chaired by Kurukshetra Lok Sabha MP and committee chairperson Naveen Jindal, while Ambala Lok Sabha MP and committee vice-chairperson Varun Chaudhary attended the review.
The discussion covered the implementation of various Central and state government schemes and programmes across the district. Jindal directed officials to work with closer coordination and adopt a “one team, one thing” approach in their day-to-day functioning. He said departments should avoid shifting responsibility to one another and instead work collectively to identify problems and find practical solutions.
Jindal stressed that the primary objective of administration is public service. He asked officials to focus on resolving issues rather than presenting problems in an exaggerated manner, and underlined the need for coordinated action on matters affecting residents.
Yamuna Pollution Draws Special Attention
Pollution in the Yamuna was among the issues discussed in detail during the meeting. Jindal referred to the river as “Yamuna Maiya” and directed the concerned departments to work together on measures aimed at pollution control and conservation.
He called for effective coordination between departments dealing with the issue and emphasised regular monitoring of work being undertaken for the cleanliness and protection of the river. The discussion placed the focus on sustained implementation and monitoring rather than isolated measures.
Sports Seen as a Positive Avenue for Youth
Jindal also emphasised the need to connect young people with sports activities. He said participation in sports can encourage discipline and provide young people with constructive opportunities. During the meeting, he encouraged MP Varun Chaudhary to organise a Sansad Khel Mahotsav and assured support for its successful conduct.
The discussion linked sports participation with the broader need to provide young people with positive avenues for engagement. The focus was on encouraging organised sporting activities at the community level.
Monkeys and Stray Dogs Also Discussed
The meeting also took up the issue of monkeys and stray dogs in the district. During the discussion, Jindal and Chaudhary spoke over the phone with a person involved in catching stray dogs to understand whether such services could be made available in Yamunanagar.
Both MPs stressed that action involving animals should be carried out with sensitivity, in a humane manner and in accordance with the applicable rules. The discussion sought information on the availability of services that could help address complaints related to stray animals while maintaining animal welfare considerations.
District Administration’s Work Appreciated
Jindal appreciated the work being carried out by Deputy Commissioner Preeti, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mahavir Prasad and the district administrative team. He asked officials to ensure that the benefits of development schemes and welfare programmes reach eligible beneficiaries within the prescribed timelines.
He also stressed the importance of better coordination among departments in matters directly connected with public interest. The emphasis was on timely delivery, accountability and joint efforts in implementing government programmes.
110 TB Patients to Receive Nutritional Support
As part of efforts aimed at making Yamunanagar TB-free, Jindal said he had adopted 110 TB patients from the Radaur Assembly constituency as a Nikshay Mitra. According to the information shared at the meeting, the Naveen Jindal Foundation will provide nutritional support to these patients from October.
Jindal said the Health Department was already providing nutritional support to TB patients, but if any patient remained without such assistance, the Naveen Jindal Foundation would step in to provide nutritional material so that no patient was left without the required support.
He underlined the importance of adequate nutrition alongside medical treatment for people undergoing TB care. He said that government departments, the administration, social organisations and citizens all have a role in efforts to strengthen the campaign against TB.
Jindal also noted that he has been supporting nutritional assistance for TB patients in Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts as a Nikshay Mitra.
Varun Chaudhary Calls for Faster Completion of Delayed Works
Ambala MP Varun Chaudhary directed officials to review development works facing delays, identify the reasons for the hold-up and remove the obstacles so that projects can be completed at the earliest. He said the purpose of a DISHA Committee meeting is to review the implementation of Central government schemes, accelerate development works and address issues affecting the public.
Chaudhary also stressed that progress reports presented at committee meetings should reflect the actual ground situation and that pending works should be given priority. During the review, officials discussed development-related matters concerning rural and urban areas, including basic infrastructure, drinking water, sanitation, roads, education and health.
Senior District Officials Attend the Meeting
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Preeti, Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja, Radaur SDM Narendra, Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath, Vyas Pur SDM Dr Kuldeep, Chhachhrauli SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, Zila Parishad CEO Brahm Prakash, Deputy Director Agriculture Dr Aditya Pratap Dabas, district BJP president Rajesh Sapra, Zila Parishad chairman Ramesh Thaska, DIPRO Dr Manoj Kumar, and DISHA Committee members Om Prakash Rana, Preeti Lal and Paramjit Singh, along with officials from various departments.
The review meeting brought together elected representatives and district officials to assess the progress of public programmes and development works, with emphasis on inter-departmental coordination, timely implementation and resolution of issues affecting residents.
