₹27-crore Saharanpur-Kurukshetra Road project launched on Yamunanagar-Radaur stretch

Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana says the PWD work will improve road quality, traffic movement and regional connectivity, with completion targeted within 12 months.

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister and Radaur MLA Shyam Singh Rana on Friday launched construction and improvement work on the Yamunanagar-Radaur section of the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra Road. The project, estimated to cost around ₹27 crore, is being taken up by the Public Works Department (PWD), with the work targeted for completion within 12 months.

The project includes re-carpeting of identified stretches, improvement of the road surface and strengthening of necessary road infrastructure. Re-carpeting from Alipura village to Jodiya Naka in the Yamunanagar area is also part of the work. In Damla village, re-carpeting will be undertaken along with construction of a divider.

Road Improvement Aimed at Easing Traffic Pressure

Rana said the Yamunanagar-Radaur route is an important connectivity corridor for the area and has witnessed increasing traffic pressure over time. The movement of heavy vehicles has added to the need for strengthening and improving the road, he said, adding that residents had repeatedly raised the issue of road conditions.

According to the minister, the route is significant not only because it connects Radaur with Yamunanagar but also because of its link towards the Uttar Pradesh state boundary. Better road infrastructure on the corridor is therefore expected to support local as well as wider regional movement.

The improved road is expected to benefit residents of surrounding villages, farmers, traders and people who travel regularly between the two areas. Rana directed the concerned departmental officials to ensure that prescribed quality standards are followed throughout the construction and that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Officials Asked to Keep Local Movement in Mind

Rana also instructed officials to take traffic management and the movement of local residents into account while construction is under way. Maintaining access for people using the road during the work will remain important because the route serves daily commuters as well as agricultural and commercial traffic.

Other Road Projects Also Underway in Radaur

The minister said several road projects have recently been initiated in the Radaur Assembly constituency as part of efforts to strengthen road infrastructure. He referred to the road construction work on the Saraswati Nagar-Radaur and Uncha Chandna-Radaur routes, covering about 17.5 kilometres. The estimated cost of that project is around ₹8.14 crore, and the work is also being carried out by the PWD.

Rana said residents had been seeking improvement of the condition of that road for a long time. Better road connectivity with Yamunanagar is particularly important for Radaur because the area has significant agricultural activity and regular movement of heavy vehicles. Its proximity to the Uttar Pradesh border also gives the road network importance for inter-state movement.

Roads Linked to Everyday Needs of Rural Communities

Rana said infrastructure-related requirements, including roads, drinking water, electricity and irrigation, are being taken up on a priority basis in the Radaur constituency. He underlined the role of roads in rural life, where farmers depend on reliable connectivity to move agricultural produce and access markets, while students, employees and other residents use the routes for daily travel.

Officials said completion of the road improvement projects would help facilitate smoother traffic movement and provide improved road access to Alipura, Damla and neighbouring villages. The quality and maintenance of roads are also important for reducing difficulties caused by deteriorating surfaces, particularly on routes carrying a mix of local and heavy traffic.

Residents Raise Further Infrastructure Demands

Farmer union leader Subhash Gurjar and other local residents were present at the launch of the work. Local people and farmers thanked the minister for initiating the road project and also placed demands related to improvement of other roads in the area before him.

The launch marks the beginning of work on a key road stretch whose condition has been a matter of concern for local users. The project’s progress, adherence to quality standards and completion within the announced 12-month target will now be important factors in determining when residents and commuters begin to receive the intended benefits.
