Civil Line Road inspection exposes slow progress in Jagadhri

Mayor Suman Bahmani, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad and former minister Kanwar Pal inspect the ongoing Civil Line Road project in Jagadhri.
Residents raised concerns over delays and potholes during the inspection, prompting the municipal leadership to direct the contractor to speed up construction and maintain quality standards.
The under-construction road is being developed at an estimated cost of about ₹1.94 crore from Jhanda Chowk through Civil Hospital towards Bilaspur Road.
Residents Flag Delays and Road Safety Concerns
Mayor Suman Bahmani, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad and former cabinet minister Kanwar Pal inspected the project on Thursday, reviewing construction quality, progress and arrangements at the site. Officials were given directions to closely monitor the work and ensure that the project follows the required standards.
During the inspection, residents told the mayor and municipal commissioner that the construction was progressing slowly, creating difficulties for commuters. They also pointed to potholes on the road and the resulting risk of accidents.
Contractor Told to Accelerate Work
After hearing the complaints, the mayor and commissioner spoke to the concerned contractor by phone and directed him to accelerate the construction. The mayor said there would be no compromise on the quality of the road work and instructed officials to conduct regular monitoring.
She also directed that the work be completed within the stipulated timeframe and warned that failure to meet the deadline could invite action against the contractor.
Municipal Leadership Stresses Timely Civic Development
Mayor Suman Bahmani said the overall development of the city and better civic facilities for residents remain priorities for the Municipal Corporation. She said the civic body is working to ensure that public-interest development projects are completed in a timely manner.
She added that once completed, the Civil Line Road project is expected to provide smoother and more convenient movement for people in the area.
Market Committee Jagadhri chairman Vipul Garg, councillors Arun Kumar and Vibhor Pahuja, Chief Sanitation Inspectors Harjit Singh and Vinod Beniwal and other officials were present during the inspection.
