Yamunanagar Police have arrested a man in connection with alleged motorcycle theft and recovered two motorcycles during an operation by the Anti Vehicle Theft Cell, according to a police spokesperson. The accused was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, while police said further investigation into the case is continuing.

According to the police, the action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. The Anti Vehicle Theft Cell received information that a youth allegedly carrying a stolen motorcycle would travel through Kareda Mor towards Uttar Pradesh. Acting on the information, the team set up a checkpoint and began checking vehicles in the area.

Suspect Intercepted During Vehicle Checking»

Anti Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Rajesh Kumar said a special team was constituted following the information. The team included Head Constable Labh Singh along with Roop, Yogesh, Jitender and Naresh. Police said the team conducted intensive checking of vehicles at the suspected location.

During the checking, officers noticed a motorcycle approaching and stopped the rider. Police said the documents associated with the motorcycle appeared suspicious. During questioning and verification, the vehicle was allegedly found to be stolen.

Police identified the arrested suspect as Ankit, son of Deshraj, a resident of Shahjahanpur village in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, the suspect allegedly told investigators that the motorcycle had been stolen on September 23 from the jurisdiction of City Police Station.

Second Motorcycle Also Recovered»

Police said further questioning led to the recovery of another motorcycle allegedly linked to the suspect. According to the Anti Vehicle Theft Cell, the second motorcycle had allegedly been stolen from Fountain Chowk in Yamunanagar on April 9.

The recovery of two motorcycles has been described by the police as an important development in the investigation of vehicle theft cases. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding both alleged thefts and the ownership and records of the recovered vehicles.

Police Cite Earlier Theft Cases»

Anti Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Rajesh Kumar further said that two earlier theft cases had already been registered against the accused and that both matters were pending before the court. The present arrest and recoveries are being investigated separately in accordance with the applicable legal process.

Police said the investigation would continue to establish the complete circumstances of the alleged thefts and determine whether the accused has any connection with other vehicle theft incidents. Verification of vehicle records and other evidence will form part of the ongoing investigation.

Judicial Custody After Court Appearance»

The police spokesperson said the accused was arrested and subsequently produced before the court. The court sent him to judicial custody. Police said the investigation into the vehicle theft allegations remains underway.

Judicial custody means that the accused remains in custody under the authority of the court during the relevant proceedings. An arrest or police allegation does not by itself establish guilt, and the allegations in the present matter remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.

Police Appeal to Vehicle Owners»

Yamunanagar Police said efforts are continuing to curb vehicle theft in the district and that action against suspects will continue as investigations progress. The police also appealed to members of the public to remain alert about the security of their vehicles.

Residents have been advised to park vehicles at secure locations, use appropriate anti-theft precautions and remain attentive to suspicious activity around parking areas. Police urged citizens to promptly inform the authorities if they notice suspicious persons, vehicles or activity.

Investigation Remains in Progress»

The recovery of the two motorcycles provides police with additional material for the investigation, according to the police spokesperson. Investigators are expected to verify the vehicle ownership records, theft reports and other available evidence connected with the two motorcycles.

The police have not indicated that the investigation has concluded. Further findings, if established during the investigation or subsequent court proceedings, will determine the legal position of the accused in the cases.
