Competition Focuses on Knowledge and Confidence

A quiz competition was organised at Sant Nischal Singh College of Education for Women, Santpura, Yamunanagar, with the objective of strengthening students’ general knowledge, intellectual ability, reasoning skills and confidence. Students from B.Ed first and second year and D.El.Ed first year participated enthusiastically in the academic activity.

The college regularly encourages co-curricular activities as part of students’ broader learning experience. Its official prospectus lists quiz, debate, art, sports and other competitions among activities organised to support students’ development beyond classroom learning.

The quiz was organised by Dr Poonam and Mrs Richa. A total of 11 teams participated in the competition, following which six teams were shortlisted through a preliminary round for the subsequent stages.

Questions Cover Haryana, Education and Culture

The competition featured questions related to Haryana general knowledge, the Indian education system, Indian culture and festivals. The participants faced different rounds designed to test their recall, awareness, quick thinking and ability to respond accurately under competitive conditions.

The format encouraged students to work as teams while drawing on their individual knowledge. The close contest among the shortlisted teams also gave participants an opportunity to demonstrate communication, concentration and decision-making skills in an academic setting.

Principal Encourages Academic Participation

Officiating Principal Mrs Jaspreet Kaur encouraged the students and appreciated their active participation in the competition. She said activities of this nature can broaden students’ knowledge while also helping them develop confidence, reasoning ability and a healthy competitive spirit.

The college’s stated academic approach places emphasis on critical thinking, continuous evaluation and participation in co-curricular and extension activities. Its principal’s message also highlights the importance of developing students’ practical abilities and well-rounded personalities.

Jaspreet Kaur said strengthening general knowledge and logical abilities is particularly useful for students preparing for competitive examinations, where awareness, speed and analytical thinking can play an important role.

Final Round Produces Close Contest

The final round witnessed close competition among the shortlisted teams. Dinky, a B.Ed second-year student, and Sneha, a D.El.Ed first-year student, jointly secured the first position.

Saanvi and Harpreet Kaur, both B.Ed first-year students, secured the second position. Ayushi and Geetika, also from B.Ed first year, finished third.

The results reflected the competitive nature of the final rounds, with students required to combine subject awareness with quick and accurate responses.

Winners and Participants Congratulated

Dr Jaspreet Kaur congratulated the winners and appreciated Dr Poonam, Mrs Richa Rani and all participants for the successful conduct of the programme. She also acknowledged the enthusiasm shown by students throughout the competition.

The event provided students with an opportunity to learn in an interactive environment while testing their general awareness and logical abilities. Such competitions can complement formal classroom teaching by encouraging students to engage with information from different areas and apply their knowledge in a time-bound setting.
