Students urged to stay away from substance abuse, adopt healthy lifestyles and report information related to illegal drug trafficking

As part of the Haryana government’s “Drug-Free Haryana” campaign, the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau is continuing its efforts to spread awareness against substance abuse across the state. Under the leadership and guidance of Bureau Chief and Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar, IPS, awareness programmes are being organised to educate young people and communities about the serious dangers associated with drug addiction.
Continuing this campaign, the Yamunanagar Unit of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau organised a special anti-drug awareness programme at Om Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Shadipur, Yamunanagar. The programme focused on making students aware of the physical, mental and social consequences of substance abuse and encouraging them to adopt a healthy, disciplined and responsible lifestyle.
Addressing the students, Yamunanagar Unit In-charge Inspector Mahroof Ali, ASI Phool Kumar and school Principal Rajveer Verma appealed to the students to remain away from drugs and focus on education, sports and other constructive activities.
The speakers underlined the importance of youth participation in building a drug-free society and conveyed the message that young people who stay away from drugs can contribute positively to the progress and development of the country.
Officials explained that substance abuse can have serious consequences for an individual’s health, education, family life and future. Students were encouraged to understand the harmful effects of addiction and to avoid situations or influences that could push them towards substance abuse.
Inspector Mahroof Ali described drug addiction as a social menace that can gradually weaken individuals, families and communities. He urged students to use their energy and abilities in positive directions and actively participate in sports, education and creative activities.
He said that awareness among young people is an important part of the larger fight against drugs. Students were encouraged not only to protect themselves from addiction but also to spread awareness among their friends, family members and communities.
During the programme, students took a pledge to remain away from drugs and contribute towards protecting society from the dangers of substance abuse. They also resolved to encourage others to stay away from narcotics and support the goal of building a healthier and drug-free Haryana.
ASI Phool Kumar appealed to members of the public to share information regarding illegal drug trafficking or narcotics-related activities through the toll-free helpline 1933, the MANAS portal, or the Haryana Narcotics Control Bureau helpline at 90508-91508. He said that the identity of people providing information would be kept confidential.
The officials stressed that public participation is essential in tackling the problem of drug trafficking and substance abuse. They urged citizens to remain alert and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing credible information related to illegal narcotics activities.
The awareness programme was organised as part of the Bureau’s wider campaign to reach students and young people across Haryana with the message that education, sports, discipline and constructive activities offer a stronger and healthier path towards personal growth and social development.
The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau continues to conduct such awareness programmes under the “Nasha Mukt Haryana” initiative, with the objective of preventing drug abuse, particularly among young people, and encouraging communities to actively support efforts against illegal narcotics.
