A door-to-door survey is being conducted across Yamunanagar district as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India. The exercise is aimed at ensuring that the voter lists remain accurate, updated and free from errors, with every name included in the electoral roll representing an eligible and genuine voter.
The district administration is carrying out the exercise in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, with emphasis on ensuring that the entire verification process remains fair, transparent and systematic. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been assigned the responsibility of conducting field-level verification and gathering the required information from households as part of the ongoing electoral roll revision exercise.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja issued these directions during a meeting held with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to review preparations for the Special Intensive Revision campaign for 2026. The meeting focused on the implementation of the revision exercise, responsibilities of officials and the arrangements required to ensure that the process is completed effectively.
The review was also conducted through a video conference in which Chief Electoral Officer A Srinivas interacted with Deputy Commissioners across the state. During the video conference, the overall framework of the Special Intensive Revision campaign, responsibilities assigned to different officials and implementation of the various stages of the exercise were reviewed in detail.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja informed the meeting that the work relating to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls was being carried out properly by BLOs across the district. He stressed the importance of ensuring that field-level verification is undertaken carefully so that genuine voters are not left out and inaccuracies in electoral records can be identified and addressed.
The door-to-door survey is an important component of the revision exercise as it allows election officials to verify electoral information directly at the household level.
