Red Cross and ALIMCO to conduct block-level camps for eligible persons with disabilities and senior citizens under the Vyoshri Scheme

The District Red Cross Society, Yamunanagar, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), will organise a series of free assessment camps from September 7 to 10, 2026 across the district for persons with disabilities and eligible senior citizens. The initiative aims to identify beneficiaries who require artificial limbs and other assistive devices so that eligible persons can subsequently receive the required support through ALIMCO.
The information was provided by Red Cross Secretary Sanjeev Dhiman, who said the camps are being organised with the objective of ensuring that eligible persons with disabilities and senior citizens do not remain deprived of artificial limbs and other assistive equipment.
Dhiman said the District Red Cross Society is working with ALIMCO, Government of India, to conduct assessments of eligible beneficiaries at different locations across Yamunanagar district. The assessment will help determine the requirements of beneficiaries and facilitate the subsequent process for providing suitable assistive devices through the prescribed mechanism.
The camps will be organised at the block level so that beneficiaries from different parts of the district can access the assessment facility closer to their respective areas. The four-day schedule has been prepared to cover all blocks as well as the Jagadhri and Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation areas.
The first camp will be held on September 7 at the Community Hall, Chhachhrauli. This camp will cover eligible beneficiaries from Chhachhrauli and Pratap Nagar blocks.
The second camp is scheduled for September 8 at the Block Development and Panchayat Officer’s Office, Vyasapur, where beneficiaries from Vyasapur and Sadhaura blocks will be assessed.
On September 9, the assessment camp will be organised at the Block Development and Panchayat Officer’s Office, Saraswati Nagar. Eligible persons from Saraswati Nagar and Radaur blocks will be covered at this camp.
The final camp will be organised on September 10 at Panchayat Bhawan, Yamunanagar. This camp will cater to eligible beneficiaries from Jagadhri and the Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation area.
Red Cross Secretary Sanjeev Dhiman said the organisation has consistently remained committed to humanitarian service and regularly undertakes welfare initiatives for persons with disabilities and senior citizens. He said the purpose of conducting such assessment camps is to identify genuine requirements and ensure that eligible beneficiaries can access assistive devices according to the prescribed procedure.
He appealed to eligible persons to make full use of the camps and reach the designated venue on the date fixed for their respective area. Beneficiaries have also been advised to bring the necessary documents with them to facilitate the assessment and verification process.
Dhiman specifically clarified the eligibility conditions for the assessment camps. Persons with disabilities who have received a motorised tricycle within the last five years will not be eligible for assessment under the present camps. Similarly, persons with disabilities and senior citizens who have received other assistive devices within the last three years will not be assessed or measured during these camps.
He said this clarification is important so that residents can determine their eligibility before visiting the assessment centre. Those who have already received the specified equipment within the prescribed period will not undergo a fresh assessment during this programme.
All other eligible persons with disabilities, along with senior citizens aged 60 years or above, have been urged to take advantage of the free assessment facility.
Dhiman said beneficiaries must bring their disability certificate or UDID, Aadhaar Card, Family ID or income certificate and a photograph when attending the camp. Carrying the required documents will help officials complete the necessary verification and assessment process.
The assessment camps are intended to identify the specific requirements of eligible beneficiaries for artificial limbs and other assistive devices. Depending on the assessment and eligibility, the beneficiaries can subsequently be provided appropriate equipment through ALIMCO.
Assistive devices can play an important role in improving mobility and independence among persons with disabilities. Appropriate equipment can make everyday activities easier and enable beneficiaries to participate more actively in education, employment, social activities and community life.
Similarly, eligible senior citizens may benefit from appropriate assistive equipment that supports mobility and day-to-day activities. The initiative therefore seeks to extend support to two groups that can particularly benefit from access to suitable assistive devices.
Sanjeev Dhiman said the Red Cross Society remains committed to ensuring that welfare initiatives reach the people who genuinely require them. He emphasised that beneficiaries and their families should remain aware of the assessment schedule and eligibility requirements so that they can take advantage of the programme without unnecessary inconvenience.
The block-wise arrangement is also intended to make the assessment process more accessible. Instead of requiring beneficiaries from distant areas to travel to a single location, assessment camps will be conducted at different venues covering specific blocks and municipal areas.
The Red Cross Society has appealed to family members and caregivers of eligible persons to help them reach the appropriate camp with all required documents. Their support can make it easier for beneficiaries, particularly those who face mobility-related difficulties, to participate in the assessment process.
The initiative is being organised in association with ALIMCO, which provides artificial limbs and assistive devices to eligible beneficiaries through assessment-based programmes. The current camps will focus on identifying eligible beneficiaries and assessing their requirements.
The Red Cross has also encouraged eligible residents not to miss the camp scheduled for their area. Since the assessment process is an important step towards receiving appropriate assistive equipment, beneficiaries are advised to attend with complete documentation.

Eligibility: Eligible persons with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 years or above.
Important: Persons with disabilities who received a motorised tricycle less than five years ago, or persons with disabilities and senior citizens who received other assistive devices less than three years ago, will not be eligible for assessment at these camps.
