Minister urges farmers to bring properly dried paddy to mandis, highlights government welfare schemes and announces Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti programme

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Shyam Singh Rana visited several villages in the Radaur area and interacted with residents on a range of local issues, development activities and government welfare schemes. During his visits to Kunjal, Akbarpur, Topra Kalan, Sagri, Antawa, Ramgarh and Hiran Chhapar, the minister met villagers and listened to their concerns and suggestions.
The minister held discussions with residents on matters concerning the area and assured them that their issues and suggestions would be given due consideration. He also interacted with villagers regarding development works being undertaken by the Haryana government and discussed various welfare schemes being implemented for different sections of society.
Rana said remaining connected with people at the grassroots level, understanding their concerns and working continuously to accelerate development and resolve public grievances remain among his priorities. He said direct interaction with residents provides an opportunity to understand local requirements and take up issues related to development and public services.
During his interaction with farmers, the Agriculture Minister also highlighted the ongoing paddy season. He advised farmers to ensure that their paddy crop is properly dried before bringing it to the mandis. He said bringing adequately dried produce to the market can help farmers avoid difficulties during the process of selling their crop.
The minister’s advice comes as farmers enter an important phase of the paddy procurement season. He urged farmers to pay attention to the condition of their produce before taking it to the market so that unnecessary difficulties can be avoided during sale and procurement.
Rana also spoke about the government’s development-oriented approach and its emphasis on ensuring that welfare policies reach people at the grassroots level. He said the political philosophy of a party has a direct bearing on its approach towards development and public welfare.
Referring to the ideological foundations of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he spoke about the thinking of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, particularly their emphasis on ensuring that the benefits of welfare-oriented policies reach the last person in society.
The minister said the Central and Haryana governments under the BJP have undertaken numerous development projects and introduced several welfare schemes and policies. He said strengthening the economy and expanding welfare initiatives have remained important components of the government’s approach.
Rana said the objective is to ensure that the benefits of government policies reach people across social and economic sections, particularly those at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid. He linked this approach with the philosophy of Antyodaya, which places emphasis on the welfare and upliftment of the most disadvantaged sections of society.
The minister also announced that the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya will be observed on September 25, 2026, at Anaj Mandi, Radaur, through a morning walk programme. He invited BJP leaders, workers, sarpanches and residents of the area to participate in the programme along with their families.
Speaking about Deendayal Upadhyaya, Rana said he was born into a poor Brahmin family and was academically talented from an early age. He said his life was marked by a strong commitment to national service and that his objective was to ensure that the benefits of welfare programmes reached poor and disadvantaged people through the philosophy of Antyodaya.
Rana said the BJP governments at the Centre and in Haryana were working with this approach and seeking to take the state forward through development and welfare initiatives. He appealed to party workers and local residents to participate in the upcoming programme commemorating Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary.
During his interaction with villagers, the minister also spoke about the BJP government’s record on employment and administration. He alleged that before the BJP came to power, nepotism had been prevalent in political systems and corruption had affected government administration and recruitment.
Rana said the BJP government had worked to eliminate corruption and nepotism from government recruitment in Haryana. He claimed that young people were being provided government employment on the basis of merit without the influence of what he described as “slips and expenses”, referring to the earlier allegations of favouritism and financial influence in recruitment.
He said the growing interest among young people in competitive examinations was an indication of their confidence in merit-based opportunities. According to the minister, more young people are now focusing on preparing for competitive examinations and seeking employment through formal selection processes.
Rana also spoke about the government’s decision to commemorate the birth anniversaries of saints and spiritual figures. He described the initiative as a positive step, saying that the teachings and wisdom of saints can provide people with peace of mind and guidance in their lives.
He said the teachings of saints can help people find a constructive path forward and strengthen moral and social values. During his village visits, the minister also listened to residents’ individual concerns and discussed local matters with them.
As part of his visit, Rana also participated in a development programme in Radaur municipality. He performed the ceremonial foundation-laying for the proposed construction of a hall on the first floor of the community centre near Namdev Chowk in Ward No. 2 of Radaur.
The proposed hall is expected to add to the community infrastructure available to residents of the area. Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, the Agriculture Minister said the process of development would continue and that efforts were being made to provide better facilities to residents.
He said the government remains committed to the overall development of the area and to improving civic infrastructure. He described the objective as moving forward towards a developed Radaur and developed Haryana through continued development activities.
The foundation-laying event was attended by Radaur Municipal Committee Chairperson Shalu Mehta, Secretary Surender Malik, Saraswati Mandal BJP president Hardeep Singh Saini, along with local dignitaries and residents.
The minister’s visit combined direct interaction with villagers, discussions on agricultural concerns, information about government welfare initiatives and the launch of a local infrastructure project. His emphasis on paddy quality and timely preparation for market procurement was particularly relevant to farmers during the current crop season.
The village interactions also provided residents with an opportunity to put forward their concerns and suggestions directly before the minister. Rana reiterated that remaining connected with people and understanding their requirements would continue to be a priority.
At the local level, the proposed community hall at Radaur is another addition to the development works being undertaken in the area. The minister said the government would continue the process of development to improve facilities for residents and strengthen civic infrastructure.
The visit concluded with the minister reiterating the government’s stated focus on development, welfare and public engagement. He also encouraged residents and party workers to participate in the September 25 programme marking Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary.
