Accused allegedly stole mustard oil tins and attempted to take away sacks of rice from a warehouse; sent to judicial custody after arrest

Chhapar Police in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district have arrested a man in connection with a theft case involving the alleged stealing of goods from a warehouse. Police said stolen property was recovered from the accused, who was later produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
According to a police spokesperson, the action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep as part of an ongoing drive against theft and property-related offences. The case is being investigated further.
Chhapar Police Station SHO Ajay Kumar said the case was registered following a complaint filed by Shivansh, a resident of Chhapar village. According to the complaint, an unidentified person allegedly entered the complainant’s warehouse on August 22 and stole two tins of mustard oil.
A second incident was reported a few days later. The complainant told police that on August 26, a young man was allegedly attempting to remove sacks of rice from the same warehouse. However, the suspect allegedly dropped the sacks and fled from the spot.
Based on the complaint, Chhapar Police registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify and arrest the person involved in the alleged theft incidents.
A police team was constituted under the leadership of Head Constable Pradeep Kumar to trace the accused and recover the stolen goods. During the investigation, the team gathered information and carried out further action that led to the arrest of the suspect.
Police identified the accused as Vikas alias Kala, a resident of Mansurpur village and son of Sanjeev Kumar.
According to police, stolen goods were recovered from the accused following his arrest. The exact nature and quantity of the recovered property were not detailed in the information released by the police.
The accused was subsequently produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
Police said the investigation into the case was continuing and further aspects of the alleged theft were being examined.
The incidents highlight the need for owners of warehouses, godowns and commercial storage facilities to maintain adequate security arrangements, particularly where food items, consumer goods and other easily transportable products are stored.
Warehouses can often remain unattended for extended periods, making them vulnerable to theft if adequate surveillance and access controls are not in place. Police have regularly advised business owners and residents to remain alert and report suspicious activity without delay.
Chhapar Police said timely information from members of the public can assist investigators in tracing suspects and recovering stolen property.
The Yamunanagar district police have continued to take action in cases involving theft and other property-related offences. Police officials said investigations are carried out on the basis of complaints, available evidence and information collected during the course of the probe.
Further legal proceedings against the accused will continue in accordance with the law.
