Recognising the crucial role of youth in promoting a drug-free society, the Yamunanagar Police on Friday honoured athletes and volunteers who played a significant part in the successful organisation of the “Nasha Ke Khilaf Jung – Yamunanagar Ke Sang” Marathon, held on July 26, 2026.

A felicitation ceremony was organised at the Meeting Hall of the Mini Secretariat, where Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ashish Chaudhary presented appreciation certificates to members of the Rohit Running Group, Raja Bhangra Club, and other young volunteers for their exemplary service and commitment during the anti-drug awareness event.

According to the police spokesperson, the volunteers displayed remarkable discipline and dedication while managing the 5-km and 10-km marathon races. They assisted participants, guided runners along the route, maintained order throughout the event and ensured the smooth execution of the marathon, making a meaningful contribution to the district police’s anti-drug campaign.

Addressing the gathering, ASP Ashish Chaudhary emphasised that youth participation is essential in building a drug-free society. He said that sports and community engagement provide young people with a positive direction in life and help protect them from the dangers of substance abuse.

He encouraged the volunteers to continue participating in social initiatives and inspire others to stay away from drugs. The ASP noted that the success of awareness campaigns largely depends on the active involvement of responsible and motivated young citizens, adding that such collective efforts can bring meaningful and lasting social change.

The ceremony was attended by Rohit Running Group coach Vinay Rana, senior railway footballer Pankaj Chugh, Chetan Singari, Khush, Yuvika, Yashika, Vijay Sharma, Amrit, Advitiya, Aryan Gupta, Anjal, senior athlete Amar Singh, and representatives of Raja Bhangra Club, including Rupinder Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Vinay, along with several other athletes and volunteers.

Concluding the programme, ASP Chaudhary congratulated all the awardees for their dedicated service and expressed confidence that they would continue supporting the district police in future public welfare and social awareness initiatives, particularly in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse.
