Students Receive Safety Awareness
The Yamunanagar Police Safe City Team conducted an awareness programme for students at Government Senior Secondary School, Topar Kalan, focusing on personal safety, cybercrime, substance abuse and emergency assistance. The programme was organised as part of the district police’s continuing efforts to make school students more aware of safety measures and legal protections.
According to the police spokesperson, the programme was organised under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel. ASI Neelam of the Safe City Team interacted with the students and explained several issues that can directly affect their safety and wellbeing.
Good Touch, Bad Touch and Emergency Help
During the session, students were given information about good touch and bad touch in simple and age-appropriate terms. ASI Neelam advised children to speak without fear or hesitation if anyone behaves inappropriately with them and to immediately inform their parents, teachers or another trusted adult.
Students were also informed that they can seek police assistance through the emergency helpline 112 whenever they face an emergency requiring immediate help. The police emphasised the importance of speaking up and seeking assistance rather than remaining silent in situations that threaten personal safety.
Students Alerted to Cybercrime Risks
The Safe City Team also discussed the growing risks associated with cybercrime and online fraud. Students were advised to use social media carefully and never share personal information with unknown people online.
They were cautioned against clicking on suspicious or unknown links and told to remain alert to attempts at online fraud and cyber deception. The police advised students to report cybercrime promptly so that appropriate action can be initiated without unnecessary delay.
Message Against Drug Abuse
The harmful effects of drug abuse were another major focus of the awareness session. ASI Neelam explained that substance abuse can damage not only a person’s health but also affect their education, future, family and wider social environment.
Students were encouraged to stay away from drugs and to help create awareness among their friends and family members. The police stressed that early awareness and responsible choices can play an important role in keeping young people away from harmful substances.
Students Raise Questions
Students actively participated in the programme and asked police officials questions on different aspects of personal safety, cybercrime, drugs and emergency assistance. The officials responded to their questions and encouraged them to follow the law, remain alert and report suspicious activities to the police.
The district police said such awareness programmes would continue to be organised at educational institutions in the future. The objective is to strengthen awareness among children and young people about personal safety, responsible online behaviour, the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of seeking timely help when required.
