Finance Committee Clears Major Civic Proposals

Mayor Suman Bahmani, who chaired a Finance Committee meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, approved development works worth ₹3,07,19,000 for different parts of the city. The decisions cover civic beautification, lighting arrangements and public-awareness activities related to cleanliness and solid waste management.

The approvals come amid continuing attention by the Municipal Corporation to urban services, cleanliness, street lighting and other civic matters. Recent municipal meetings have also taken up proposals concerning development works, sanitation, healthcare, traffic management, property tax and streetlights.

₹1.71 Crore Approved for Decorative Lighting

The Finance Committee approved ₹1,71,12,000 for decorative lights and poles at various locations in Wards 1 to 5. The project is intended to strengthen lighting arrangements and improve the appearance of important areas within the municipal limits.

Decorative lighting has also featured in the Municipal Corporation’s wider beautification plans. Earlier this year, the civic body approved plans involving landscaping and decorative lighting at major entry points of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.

The latest approval focuses on identified locations in the first five wards and is expected to add to the city’s lighting and beautification infrastructure once the sanctioned works move into execution.

₹1.36 Crore Set Aside for Cleanliness Awareness

A further ₹1,36,07,000 was approved for Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 and the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, according to the details of the committee’s decisions.

The proposed activities will focus on public awareness about cleanliness, waste segregation and responsible solid waste management. The initiative is also intended to encourage residents to participate in cleanliness efforts and adopt better waste-disposal practices.

The emphasis on public participation is consistent with the Municipal Corporation’s stated approach to cleanliness and waste management. The civic body says it is giving special attention to cleanliness, environmental sustainability and effective waste management while also seeking active participation from residents and other stakeholders.

Mayor Directs Officials to Complete Formalities

Mayor Suman Bahmani directed the concerned officials to complete the required formalities at the earliest and ensure that the approved funds are booked promptly. She stressed the need to avoid unnecessary delays so that the sanctioned works could begin as soon as possible.

She said the Municipal Corporation was committed to improving civic facilities while working towards a cleaner, more attractive and better-organised Yamunanagar. She also emphasised that effective cleanliness management requires cooperation between civic authorities and residents.

The Municipal Corporation’s official website identifies Suman Bahmani as the Mayor of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri.

Officials and Committee Members Attend Meeting

The meeting was attended by Finance Committee councillors Arun Kumar and Sandeep Dhiman, Executive Engineer Vikas Dhiman, Assistant Engineers Rajesh Sharma and Surendra Dahiya, Chief Sanitation Inspector Vinod Beneval and other officials.

The approvals are expected to support civic improvement works as well as awareness efforts related to cleanliness, waste segregation and scientific solid waste management. Their implementation will depend on completion of the required administrative and financial formalities by the concerned departments.
