Women and students at bus stand educated on 112 Emergency App, trip monitoring and legal safety measures

Strengthening its commitment to women’s safety, the Yamunanagar Police organised another awareness drive under the Safe City Campaign at the Yamunanagar Bus Stand, educating women and girl students about emergency response services, digital safety tools and their legal rights.
Acting under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, the district’s Safe City Police Team conducted the programme, where ASI Neelam interacted with women commuters and students, encouraging them to make greater use of technology for their personal safety.
During the session, ASI Neelam explained the features and importance of the 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) and helped several participants install the 112 India mobile application on their smartphones. She demonstrated how the app enables users to seek immediate police assistance with a single touch, automatically transmitting the caller’s location to the police control room for faster emergency response.
The awareness programme also focused on the Trip Monitoring facility, which is particularly useful for women travelling alone. Participants were informed that they can share details such as vehicle number, driver’s name, travel route and destination with the police before starting their journey, allowing authorities to respond swiftly if any emergency arises during transit.
Officials also sensitised participants about crimes including eve-teasing, stalking, online harassment, abusive social media behaviour and domestic violence, urging women not to remain silent against any form of harassment. The police assured that complaints involving women are handled with confidentiality and prompt legal action.
The participants were further informed about various women’s helpline numbers, emergency services and legal protections available to ensure their safety and security in public spaces.
According to the police spokesperson, the primary objective of the Safe City initiative is to empower women and students with awareness, confidence and practical safety tools so they can travel and work without fear.
The district police stated that similar awareness programmes will continue to be organised at bus stands, railway stations, educational institutions, markets and other public places across the district to further strengthen women’s safety and public awareness.
