The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of DAV College for Girls organised an awareness programme for first-year students on “Angel Investment and Venture Capital Funding Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs.” The initiative aimed to introduce students to entrepreneurship, innovation and startup funding mechanisms.
Acting Principal Dr Surinder Kaur welcomed the students and highlighted the college’s efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. She said the Innovation Council provides an effective platform for students to develop creative ideas, enhance problem-solving skills, participate in innovation-driven activities and transform ideas into successful ventures. She encouraged students to actively engage in the council’s programmes to strengthen their creativity, confidence and leadership abilities.
Faculty members Jasmeet Kaur and Shaili Chauhan from the Department of Economics explained the concepts of angel investment, venture capital funding, financial support for startups and the investment process through practical examples. They also acquainted students with various Government of India initiatives designed to support emerging entrepreneurs.
Citing the success stories of leading Indian startups, the speakers motivated students to convert innovative ideas into sustainable business ventures and explore self-employment opportunities in the future.
Mukand Lal National College Students Honoured Twice for Completing 153-km Trek
Five students of Mukand Lal National College—Vivek, Yogesh, Kartik, Mohit and Ashish—were honoured for successfully completing a 153-km trek from Kalka to Kalesar, marking a proud achievement for both the students and the institution.
During a programme held at the Pinjore Forest Complex, the students received certificates of appreciation from the Haryana Education Minister in recognition of their remarkable endurance and determination. The event also witnessed the launch of the Yuva Kalyan Samiti, an initiative aimed at encouraging youth participation in social service, leadership and community development.
The following day, at the Yuva Samvad and Tree Plantation Programme, the five students were once again felicitated with certificates by the Chief Minister of Haryana for successfully completing the challenging trekking expedition.
Principal Dr Manohar Goyal congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of Dr Savita Garg for guiding the team. He said the double recognition reflected the students’ hard work, discipline, courage and determination, and would inspire them to embrace greater challenges and achievements in the future.
