Deputy Commissioner Preeti has appealed to citizens of Yamunanagar to actively participate in the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ digital campaign by uploading selfies with the National Flag on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal. She said the initiative aims to connect every household with the nationwide campaign while encouraging people to express their patriotism through digital participation.
The Deputy Commissioner said the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026 will be observed across Haryana from August 9 to August 17, covering villages, towns, wards and households. The campaign, she said, will be organised on a much larger scale this year with greater public participation and will go beyond merely hoisting the National Flag by promoting national unity, social harmony and respect for the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
Preeti noted that the campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, has evolved into a nationwide public movement. While the National Flag was once primarily displayed on government buildings, citizens are now proudly hoisting it at their homes as a symbol of patriotism and national pride. This year’s campaign is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the composition of ‘Vande Mataram’, recognising its historic role in inspiring India’s freedom movement.
She said Vande Mataram infused millions of Indians with the spirit of sacrifice and nationalism during the struggle for Independence and continues to inspire younger generations to remain connected with the country’s glorious heritage.
The Deputy Commissioner said government departments, educational institutions, universities, industries, voluntary organisations, youth clubs, sports bodies and social organisations will all participate in the campaign. She appealed to farmers to hoist the Tricolour in their fields and homes, traders at their business establishments, employees in their offices and every family at their residence to make the campaign a grand success.
Highlighting the importance of youth participation, Preeti said schools and colleges will organise exhibitions on the history of the National Flag and Vande Mataram, along with essay writing, painting, quiz, speech and patriotic song competitions. Programmes based on the lives of local freedom fighters will also be conducted to familiarise students with India’s freedom struggle and national values.
She further informed that Tiranga Yatras, motorcycle rallies, bicycle rallies and e-bike rallies will be organised across the district. Their routes will pass through local martyrs’ memorials, freedom fighters’ memorials and historically significant locations to help citizens connect with the region’s rich legacy.
Special exhibitions will also be set up at railway stations, public parks, libraries, auditoriums, schools and colleges. The Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to maintain the dignity of the National Flag by following the Flag Code of India, avoiding damaged or soiled flags and preserving the Tricolour respectfully after the campaign concludes.
She also announced that Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be observed on August 14, during which families affected by the Partition will be invited to commemorative programmes. Exhibitions, interactive sessions and a candlelight silent march will be organised to pay tribute to those who lost their lives or were displaced during the Partition of India.
