A sacred urn containing holy soil brought from Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, the revered birthplace of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, was ceremonially installed at Guru Ravidas Temple on Khalsa College Road amid an atmosphere of devotion, spirituality and religious fervour. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from devotees, who welcomed the sacred Kalash with flower petals and chants of “Jai Gurudev, Dhan Gurudev”, transforming the temple premises into a vibrant centre of faith and social harmony.

Before the installation ceremony, Mayor Suman Bahmani, accompanied by BJP Yamuna Mandal President Aman Saggad, carried the flower-decorated sacred Kalash on their heads in a traditional procession to the temple. Devotees joined the yatra with deep reverence, while the temple resonated with devotional hymns and chants. Upon reaching the temple, the Kalash was installed through Vedic rituals and traditional worship, following which devotees offered prayers and paid obeisance to the sacred soil brought from Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Suman Bahmani said the holy soil from Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace would be taken to Guru Ravidas temples located in every ward of the Municipal Corporation and villages across the district so that a larger number of devotees could receive its blessings and draw inspiration from the saint’s teachings.

She said Guru Ravidas Ji’s timeless message, “Man Changa To Kathoti Mein Ganga,” continues to guide humanity on the path of truth, righteousness and compassion. Describing the sacred soil as much more than ordinary earth, she said it symbolises Guru Ravidas Ji’s enduring ideals of social equality, human dignity, harmony and unity, values that continue to inspire society. Bahmani added that these ideals are being carried forward across the nation through initiatives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and cultural heritage.

President of the Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Temple Committee, Janata Ram, said the arrival of the sacred soil from Kashi was a moment of immense pride and spiritual significance for devotees in the region. He remarked that the holy soil represents not only religious faith but also Guru Ravidas Ji’s eternal message of equality, brotherhood, love and social harmony. He urged devotees to imbibe the saint’s teachings in their daily lives and work collectively towards strengthening communal harmony and mutual respect in society.

The religious ceremony witnessed the participation of a large number of devotees, community leaders and temple committee members. Among those present were Vibha Gupta, Manisha Kansal, Diksha Barar, Mamta Sen, Shubham Rana, Sandeep Bajaj, Bhanwar Jyot Singh, Kapil Dua, besides office-bearers of the temple committee and local residents.

The event concluded with prayers for peace, harmony and the welfare of society, while devotees described the arrival of the sacred soil from Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace as a rare and spiritually uplifting occasion.
