Government Polytechnic Institute, Umri, organised a Student Induction Programme for newly admitted students in accordance with the guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The initiative aimed to familiarise students with the institute’s academic environment, discipline, cultural activities, ethical values and social responsibilities.

Renowned educationist, philosopher and founder of Matribhoomi Seva Mission, Dr. Prakash Mishra, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he encouraged students to uphold moral values, patriotism, character building and positive thinking. He emphasised that technical education should not only prepare students for employment but also shape them into responsible and compassionate citizens.

Special Guest Ramesh Chaudhary, Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Kurukshetra, spoke about the importance of blood donation, road safety, healthy lifestyles and preventive healthcare. He also gave a practical demonstration of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), explaining how timely intervention can save lives during cardiac emergencies.

Students were also sensitised about the dangers of drug abuse, the importance of discipline, time management, physical fitness and social responsibility.

Welcoming the guests, officiating Principal Dr. Labh Singh said the induction programme plays a vital role in helping students adapt to technical education while strengthening their personality, ethical values and sense of responsibility towards society. He encouraged students to actively participate in academic as well as co-curricular activities.

At the conclusion of the programme, Heads of Departments Archana Sharma, Kanwal Sachdeva, Harvinder Saini, Rajeev Kumar, Devvrat and Priyanka Nain honoured the guests with mementoes. Students pledged to incorporate the values and lessons shared during the session into their academic and personal lives.
