A patriotic awareness programme was organised at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Purani Sabzi Mandi, under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, with students taking part in cultural presentations aimed at spreading the message of respect for the national flag, patriotism and national unity.

The programme was organised on the directions of Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Suman Bahmani and Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad. Students of the school participated enthusiastically in the event and presented patriotic songs and dance performances, creating an atmosphere of national pride and enthusiasm among teachers, students and officials present at the programme.

The awareness programme was conducted by the Municipal Corporation team, including Swachh Bharat Mission IEC expert Durgesh Kumar. The team interacted with the students and sensitised them about the importance of the national flag, the spirit of patriotism and the values of national unity and integrity.

During the programme, students presented patriotic songs and dance performances with enthusiasm. Their performances conveyed the message that citizens have an important responsibility towards the country and should understand and uphold the dignity of the national flag.

The presentations also generated a strong sense of patriotism among the teachers, Municipal Corporation officials and other students present at the event. Through their performances, the students highlighted the importance of respecting the Tricolour and fulfilling their responsibilities towards the nation.

Speaking to the students, Swachh Bharat Mission IEC expert Durgesh Kumar explained the objectives and significance of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He said the national flag is not merely a symbol of the country’s identity but also represents India’s unity, integrity, freedom and national pride.

He urged the students to understand the significance of the Tricolour and encourage their families and communities to participate in the campaign. He said every citizen has a responsibility to respect the national flag and remain aware of its importance.

Durgesh Kumar also encouraged the students to hoist the Tricolour at their homes on the occasion of Independence Day and express their respect and pride for the nation. At the same time, they were sensitised about the need to display the national flag with dignity and in accordance with the prescribed rules.

The Municipal Corporation team also highlighted the importance of responsible citizenship and urged students to carry the message of patriotism beyond the school environment. The programme sought to connect the younger generation with national values while encouraging them to contribute positively to society.

The students also took a pledge during the programme to work in the interest of the nation, maintain cleanliness and perform their responsibilities as responsible citizens. The pledge linked the message of patriotism with civic responsibility, reinforcing the idea that love for the country is also reflected through responsible conduct and participation in community life.

The awareness initiative also complemented the broader objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission by encouraging students to understand the importance of cleanliness along with their duties towards the nation. The organisers emphasised that young people can play an important role in spreading awareness about cleanliness, civic responsibility and national values among their families and communities.

School authorities appreciated the initiative and said such awareness programmes provide students with an opportunity to understand national values and social responsibilities beyond the classroom. The school principal said efforts to connect students with patriotism and social responsibility through awareness activities would continue.

The programme concluded with an emphasis on respecting the Tricolour, maintaining cleanliness and strengthening the spirit of unity and integrity. The enthusiastic participation of the students made the event an important awareness initiative ahead of Independence Day and provided them with an opportunity to express their patriotic spirit through music, dance and a commitment to responsible citizenship.
