Three Cases Investigated by Anti-Narcotics Cell

Yamunanagar Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell has arrested four suspected drug traffickers in three separate cases involving alleged recovery of heroin and restricted medicines, according to police. The arrests were made as part of the district police campaign against narcotics under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal.

Police said the cases are at different stages of investigation. Investigators are examining the alleged source and supply chain of the substances and medicines involved and are expected to question the accused further after their production before the court.

The three cases include an alleged recovery of 120 grams of heroin near Shadipur, the investigation of an earlier case involving 6,000 restricted tablets, and the arrest of an alleged supplier in a separate case involving the earlier recovery of 54 grams of heroin.

120 Grams of Heroin Reportedly Recovered Near Shadipur

Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Anil Kumar said the team received confidential information that a youth was allegedly involved in drug trafficking while travelling on a motorcycle near Shadipur.

Acting on the information, a team comprising Sub-Inspector Satish Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Kuldeep, Jasvir Singh, Jaipal, Vikas and Ankit reached the location and detained the suspect.

A duty magistrate, ETO Saurabh Jaiswal, was called to the spot. Police said a search conducted in his presence led to the recovery of 120 grams of heroin, also referred to by police as smack, with an estimated value of around ₹7 lakh.

The accused was identified as Wasim, a resident of Hamida. Police also took possession of a motorcycle allegedly used in connection with the case.

According to police, a previous case relating to snatching and theft is already registered against Wasim and is pending before the court. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and police said he would be produced before the court and taken on remand for further investigation.

Two More Arrested in 6,000 Restricted Tablets Case

In another development, the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested two alleged suppliers in connection with the recovery of 6,000 restricted tablets in an earlier case.

Anil Kumar said the team had arrested Ashu Gupta, a resident of Azad Nagar, on September 14 after allegedly recovering the restricted medicines from him. During the subsequent investigation, police said they traced an alleged supply link leading to Anup and Prince, residents of Jatheri.

Police allege that Anup and Prince were linked to the supply of the medicines to Ashu Gupta. The two accused are to be produced before the court and, according to police, will be taken on remand for questioning about the alleged procurement and distribution of the restricted medicines.

Police said the latest arrests have taken the total number of accused arrested in this particular case to four. Investigators are examining the alleged supply chain and the role of persons who may emerge during the investigation.

Alleged Supplier Held in 54-Gram Heroin Case

In the third case, the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested Sufiyan, a resident of Haiderpur, whom police allege supplied heroin recovered from a woman in an earlier case.

Anil Kumar said the team had arrested a woman on August 12 after allegedly recovering 54 grams of heroin from her possession. During questioning, police said the woman told investigators that she had allegedly obtained the narcotic substance from Sufiyan of Haiderpur.

Following the information, the Anti-Narcotics Cell conducted further investigation and arrested Sufiyan. Police said a previous drug-trafficking case is also registered against him and is pending before the court.

Investigation Focuses on Alleged Supply Chains

Police said the latest arrests are part of the district campaign against drug trafficking. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession, procurement and supply of the substances and medicines involved in the three cases.

The investigation is also intended to establish whether other persons were involved in the alleged supply networks. Any further arrests or recoveries will depend on the evidence and information gathered during the ongoing investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.

SP Kamaldeep Goyal has directed police teams to continue action against drug trafficking and strengthen efforts to prevent the circulation of narcotic substances in the district, according to the police.

As the cases move through investigation and court proceedings, the allegations against the accused remain subject to the legal process. Arrest by police does not by itself establish guilt, and the final outcome will be determined through the relevant judicial proceedings.
