Checkpoint Set Up After Police Receive Information

The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell of Yamunanagar Police has arrested a man in connection with the alleged theft of a motorcycle and recovered the vehicle, according to the police. The accused was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, while further investigation into the case is continuing.

According to the police spokesperson, the action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district police campaign against vehicle theft.

Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Rajesh Kumar said the team received confidential information that a youth carrying a stolen motorcycle would travel towards Uttar Pradesh through the Kalanour border.

Acting on the information, a special team comprising Head Constables Harvilas, Hardeep, Yogesh, Naresh and Jatinder was formed. The team set up a checkpoint at a suspected location and began checking vehicles passing through the area.

Police Question Rider After Checking Motorcycle

According to the police account, a youth riding a motorcycle approached the checkpoint and was stopped for checking. Police examined the vehicle and its documents and said they found the documents suspicious. The rider was subsequently questioned about the motorcycle.

Police said the questioning established that the motorcycle had allegedly been stolen. Investigators further said the accused disclosed that he had allegedly taken the motorcycle from outside Vivekanand Hospital on May 11.

The recovery of the motorcycle has been taken up as part of the investigation. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft and the movement of the recovered vehicle.

Accused Identified as Furkan

The accused was identified as Furkan, son of Sagir, a resident of Yakubpur village, according to the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell.

Police said the motorcycle recovered from him was allegedly the same vehicle reported stolen from outside Vivekanand Hospital. The recovery is expected to help investigators establish the circumstances of the theft and examine whether further links emerge during the investigation.

Rajesh Kumar said the police team would continue to examine the available information and evidence connected with the case. Any further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

Five Cases Said to Be Pending Against Accused

Police also said that five cases are already pending against Furkan, including cases registered under the Arms Act, and that these matters are currently under consideration before the court.

These are police-provided details and the status and outcome of the pending cases will be determined through the respective legal proceedings.

Further Investigation Underway

The police spokesperson said the accused was formally arrested and produced before the court, which sent him to judicial custody. Further investigation is being carried out to establish all relevant facts and determine whether the accused has any connection with other vehicle theft incidents.

The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell is also examining whether information gathered during the investigation can help establish additional links in vehicle theft cases. Police have not stated that the accused has been convicted in the present case; the allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.

Police Continue Vehicle Theft Prevention Drive

Yamunanagar Police said its campaign against vehicle theft and other crimes is continuing across the district. Police teams are maintaining surveillance and taking action based on information regarding suspected offenders.

The police have also appealed to residents to remain cautious about the security of their vehicles and avoid leaving motorcycles or other vehicles unattended at vulnerable locations. Citizens have been urged to inform the police promptly about suspicious activity around parked vehicles or in their neighbourhoods.

The latest recovery is part of the police effort to trace stolen vehicles and investigate complaints of vehicle theft. The outcome of the ongoing investigation will determine whether any further arrests or recoveries are made in the case.
