Guru Abhinandan honours teachers for their dedication as St Lawrence schools celebrate Teacher’s Day in Jagadhri and Bilaspur

St Lawrence International School, Pabni Road, Jagadhri, and St Lawrence International School, Shahpur Road, Vyasapur, jointly organised a grand ‘Guru Abhinandan’ teacher honour ceremony under the chairmanship of Chairperson Dr Rajni Sehgal. The programme was dedicated to the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President and a noted educationist, and focused on recognising teachers for their dedication, discipline, commitment and contribution to the schools.
Prayers and cultural presentations mark the ceremony
The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tribute before Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati by Managing Director Dr M.K. Sehgal, Chairperson Dr Rajni Sehgal and school office-bearers. The programme then opened with prayers and Ganesh Vandana.
Teachers from both campuses participated enthusiastically in cultural presentations, including songs, dance, poetry, drama and other entertainment activities. The performances showcased the teachers’ creative and multifaceted talents and added a celebratory dimension to the occasion.
‘Dristikon Se Dharohar’ presentation highlights the schools’ journey
An audio-visual presentation titled ‘Dristikon Se Dharohar’ highlighted the schools’ achievements, vision and journey. The presentation offered an overview of the institutions’ progress and the values associated with their educational mission.

Dr G.B. Gupta receives Lifetime Achievement Award
A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr G.B. Gupta, former professor of Maharaja Agrasen College, Jagadhri, for his contribution to education and society. The school management honoured him in recognition of more than three decades of experience, service and dedication.
The honour was presented as a mark of gratitude and respect for sustained contribution to education. The recognition also underscored the importance of acknowledging educators whose work has influenced students and the wider community over many years.
Teachers described as guides shaping the future
Addressing the teachers, Dr M.K. Sehgal, Chairman of Shri Siddhivinayak Educational Trust and an educationist, said teachers are not merely providers of knowledge but guides who help shape the future of society and the nation. He emphasised the responsibility of educators to impart academic learning along with moral values, discipline, good conduct and leadership qualities so that students can grow into responsible citizens.
Chairperson Dr Rajni Sehgal said honouring teachers is, in essence, a recognition of education, values and dedication. She noted that teachers give students direction through knowledge, hard work and a positive outlook, and added that such programmes encourage educators to continue striving for excellence in their professional roles.
Seventy teachers honoured across multiple categories
As part of the programme, the performance of teachers in academic, teaching-related, administrative and co-curricular activities was assessed and 70 teachers were honoured in different categories. The categories included academic and classroom excellence, administrative efficiency and cooperation, punctuality and professional conduct, co-curricular and sports activities, student care and community participation, and special achievement and leadership.
The awards recognised teachers for notable contribution, commitment and performance across different areas of school life. The management’s emphasis on varied categories also acknowledged that effective education involves classroom teaching, student support, teamwork, professional discipline and participation beyond academics.
Cultural finale brings the celebration to a close
The programme concluded with group dances and cultural performances by the teachers, adding enthusiasm and energy to the final segment of the celebration. The event ended with a vote of thanks and a grand finale.
The stage proceedings were conducted by Ravinder Kaur and Priyanka Virk. Dr M.K. Sehgal, Dr Rajni Sehgal, Vikrant Gulati, Gagan Bajaj, Pooja Batra, Meena Rohila, Rakhi Banga, Brahmakanti Sharma, Meenu Gera, Lakhwinder Kaur and teachers and non-teaching staff members from both campuses were present at the programme.
