Police arrest suspect for alleged shop theft in Jagadhri; stolen cash recovered

Yamunanagar Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged theft of cash from a cosmetic shop in the Durga Garden area of Jagadhri. Police said the stolen money was recovered from the accused, who was subsequently produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
The action was taken by the police team of Arjun Nagar Police Post following directions from Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel to take strict action against crime and criminals in the district. Police said the case was solved with the help of CCTV footage and technical investigation.

Complaint Filed After Cash Found Missing
According to police post in-charge Rajat, Durga Garden resident Rajinder Dhiman had reported that he runs a cosmetic shop outside his house. On September 13, he left the shop for some work. When he returned, he found that an unidentified person had allegedly taken away the cash kept in the shop’s cash drawer.
On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case and constituted a team to trace the accused. Investigators examined available CCTV footage and used technical inputs to identify the suspected person involved in the theft.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Police said the accused was identified as Niranjan Maharaj alias Inderjit, son of Bhulli, a resident of Ashok Vihar Colony, Jagadhri. The police team arrested him during the investigation and recovered the money allegedly stolen from the cosmetic shop.
The recovery formed an important part of the investigation as officers worked to establish the sequence of events and the circumstances in which the alleged theft took place. Police said the investigation was conducted on the basis of the complaint, CCTV footage and technical analysis.
Accused Sent to Judicial Custody
After the arrest, the accused was produced before a court. Police said he was sent to judicial custody as the legal proceedings in the case continue.
The case highlights the role of CCTV surveillance and technical investigation in tracing suspects in local property offences. Police teams are continuing to pursue evidence in accordance with the law and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police Continue Crime Prevention Drive
The police spokesperson said the district police are continuing efforts to prevent crime and identify those involved in theft and other offences. Under the directions of SP Kamaldeep Goel, teams have been instructed to act promptly on complaints and use available technology to trace suspects.
The accused remains an alleged offender at this stage, and the allegations against him will be subject to the judicial process.
