LED Screen Introduced to Promote Digital Civic Services

The Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation has taken a digital initiative at its Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC) to make residents more familiar with online civic services and encourage them to complete routine municipal work through digital platforms. As part of the initiative, the corporation’s IT Cell has installed a large LED screen at the CFC, where information about various online services and the steps involved in using them is being displayed for citizens.

The initiative is aimed at helping residents understand that several municipal services can be accessed without making repeated visits to corporation offices. By explaining the online process visually at the CFC, officials are seeking to make digital services easier to understand, particularly for citizens who may need guidance before using online facilities independently.

Citizens Can Learn Processes for Multiple Services

Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad said citizens visiting the CFC are being shown through the LED screen how they can complete several corporation-related tasks from home. The objective, he said, is to digitally empower residents so that they do not have to visit municipal offices repeatedly for routine services.

The information displayed on the screen includes the process for paying property tax online, accessing services related to birth and death certificates and registering complaints with the Municipal Corporation. By seeing the process explained at the CFC, residents can become more confident about using online systems and handling their own applications and requests through digital means.

For many citizens, understanding the steps involved in an online service can be as important as having access to the service itself. The corporation’s initiative is therefore focused not only on providing digital facilities but also on improving awareness about how those facilities can be used.

Focus on Convenience, Transparency and Timely Services

According to the Municipal Corporation, promoting digital services is intended to make civic services more convenient, transparent and time-bound. When residents are able to complete routine work online, they can save both the time required to travel to municipal offices and the expenses associated with repeated visits.

The move also supports a wider shift towards citizen-oriented digital governance, in which residents can access information and submit requests without depending entirely on physical visits. For the corporation, greater use of online services can also help streamline routine interactions and make information about available facilities more accessible to the public.

The LED screen at the CFC provides a visible point of guidance for residents who come to the centre for assistance. Instead of treating the digital process as something separate from regular civic services, the initiative introduces citizens to the online options while they are already interacting with the corporation.

Residents Encouraged to Make Greater Use of Online Facilities

The Municipal Corporation has appealed to all residents visiting the Citizen Facilitation Centre to pay attention to the information displayed on the LED screen and make greater use of the online services available to them. The aim is to encourage citizens to gradually become familiar with digital procedures and complete suitable municipal tasks themselves.

The initiative is particularly relevant for routine services that can be handled through online systems. Once residents understand the required steps, they can potentially avoid unnecessary visits to municipal offices and manage their requests from home, subject to the applicable procedures and availability of each service online.

Digital Awareness as Part of Citizen Service Delivery

The CFC initiative reflects the corporation’s effort to combine physical citizen assistance with digital awareness. While residents can continue to seek guidance at the centre when required, the LED-based information is intended to help them understand the online options available for common municipal requirements.

The corporation has emphasised that wider adoption of digital services can make everyday civic interactions simpler and more efficient. By helping residents learn the process rather than merely completing a task on their behalf, the initiative seeks to promote greater digital confidence and encourage citizens to use online municipal facilities independently.
