Shivaji Press Club (Registered), Yamunanagar, will organise a one-day anti-drug awareness programme at Shri Krishna Public School in Khajuri village of the Jathlana area on Friday, October 9, 2026. The programme will begin at 10:30 am and will focus on creating awareness among school students about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of prevention, timely counselling and rehabilitation.

The initiative is part of the press club’s continuing social and public-interest activities aimed at contributing to the welfare of the community. Club president Ravindra Chauhan said the organisation has been undertaking a range of programmes on issues directly connected with public welfare and social responsibility.

Focus on Protecting the Younger Generation

According to Chauhan, Shivaji Press Club has previously organised blood donation camps, plantation drives under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, the “Nasha Se Jung Yamunanagar Police Ke Sang” awareness initiative and cleanliness activities under its “Seva Sankalp” programme.

The proposed anti-drug awareness session is being organised as another step in the same direction, with a particular focus on the younger generation. The organisers said school students are among the most important groups to be reached through preventive awareness campaigns.

The programme will seek to explain the physical and psychological consequences of substance abuse, the risks associated with addiction and the ways in which young people can protect themselves from falling into the trap of drugs. The session will also focus on recognising early warning signs and seeking professional help instead of allowing addiction to become a long-term problem.

Senior Officials to Join Awareness Session

Mukesh Garg, Chairman of the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission, will attend the programme as the chief guest.

Several police and administrative officials are also scheduled to participate. Radaur SDM Narendra, Radaur DSP Sunil Kumar and Jathlana police station SHO Amit Kumar will be present and are expected to interact with students on the dangers of drug abuse and the role of young people in building a drug-free society.

The district police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell will also participate in the awareness programme. Officials from the specialised unit will explain the dangers associated with narcotics and discuss the importance of staying away from illegal substances.

The participation of police personnel is expected to provide students with an opportunity to understand not only the health consequences of drug abuse but also the legal and social risks associated with narcotics.

Health Experts and Counsellors to Explain Effects of Addiction

A specialist team from the Health Department, along with mental-health professionals and counsellors, will also take part in the programme.

The health experts will explain the biological and psychological effects of substance abuse and provide information about treatment and rehabilitation. Counsellors will focus on the importance of seeking help at an early stage and encouraging individuals struggling with addiction to approach appropriate professional services.

The organisers believe that combining inputs from the police, administration and health professionals will make the awareness session more comprehensive for students. Rather than limiting the discussion to the dangers of drugs, the programme will also seek to familiarise students with preventive measures, responsible decision-making and the importance of seeking support when faced with pressure or addiction-related problems.

School Management Extends Support

The programme is being organised with the special cooperation of Shri Krishna Public School Principal Deepika Chauhan and Chairman Mahipal Singh Rana.

The school campus at Khajuri will host the awareness session, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am on October 9.

The Shivaji Press Club said initiatives of this nature are intended to strengthen community participation in tackling social problems. Awareness among students, the organisers believe, can play an important role in preventing substance abuse before it develops into a serious social and health challenge.

The club has called upon students and members of the school community to actively participate in the programme and benefit from the interaction with police officials, health experts and counsellors.
