Kumari Selja calls for regularisation of Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam employees

Selja Calls for Timely Relief to HKRN Employees

Congress leader Kumari Selja has urged the Haryana government to regularise the services of approximately 1.20 lakh employees engaged through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) before Diwali, saying the state must honour its election commitment and provide long-awaited security to workers who have been serving in different departments.

Selja said the employees had continued to discharge their duties despite uncertainty over their employment status. She called on the government to take a clear policy decision instead of allowing workers to remain caught between assurances and administrative delays.

According to her, regularisation should be carried out through a transparent and legally sustainable framework that recognises the service rendered by employees and protects their future.

The Congress leader said the demand was not limited to a change in designation. Employees needed stability, fair treatment and assurance that their work would not be discontinued without a clear process. She argued that the government should address their concerns in a time-bound manner and communicate the decision openly to the workforce.

Selja said the issue had assumed significance because the government had made commitments concerning contractual employees during the election period.

She maintained that promises made to workers should be translated into concrete action. The government, she said, should not allow employees to spend another festival season waiting for clarity about their jobs and livelihoods.

She also stressed that any regularisation policy must be framed after examining the applicable rules, service conditions and legal requirements. A well-defined policy, she said, would help avoid confusion and ensure that employees across departments were treated consistently. The process should include consultation with representatives of workers and relevant departments, while ensuring that the final decision withstands legal scrutiny.

Selja said the government should place the matter before the appropriate authorities without further delay and announce a definite roadmap. She called for clarity on eligibility, the procedure to be followed and the timeline for implementation. Employees, she said, deserved to know how the government intended to fulfil its commitment and what steps would be taken to protect their service.

The Congress leader said the employees had contributed to public services and deserved dignity and security. She urged the state leadership to treat the matter as a priority and take a decision before Diwali, rather than extending uncertainty through further assurances. She said the government should act in a manner that restores confidence among workers and demonstrates that its promises are backed by policy.

Selja further said that a transparent approach would benefit both employees and administration. A clear policy could reduce repeated representations, provide departments with uniform guidance and establish a predictable framework for service conditions. She said the government should explain the proposed measures and keep employees informed at every stage.

She reiterated that the demand for regularisation should be addressed with sensitivity, fairness and urgency. The state, she said, must recognise the concerns of the approximately 1.20 lakh HKRN employees and move towards a solution that provides legal protection while complying with relevant provisions. Selja called on the government to fulfil its commitment and ensure that employees receive a clear answer before Diwali.

Uttarakhand People Have Made Up Their Mind for Change: Kumari Selja

In a separate political statement, Selja said the people of Uttarakhand had made up their mind for change, alleging that the BJP government had failed to address key public concerns. Her remarks followed a meeting of senior Congress leaders in New Delhi, where the party discussed its political approach and preparations for the state.

Selja said issues including law and order, education, healthcare, women’s safety, unemployment and migration remained central to public debate. She alleged that the BJP had not delivered the results expected by people and said Congress would raise these concerns while engaging with residents across the state.

She said the party’s strategy would focus on public issues and the need for accountable governance. According to Selja, people were looking for practical solutions to challenges affecting daily life, including access to quality public services and employment opportunities.

She said Congress would continue to communicate its position and seek support for a change in governance.

The Congress leader also referred to concerns about migration from hill areas, saying employment and development opportunities were important to keeping communities vibrant. She said the party would discuss these matters with local residents and incorporate their concerns into its political programme.

Selja said the Congress leadership was working to strengthen its organisation and prepare for the political contest ahead. She maintained that the party would highlight issues of public interest and hold the state government accountable for its performance.
