Kumari Selja’s 64th Birthday Marked Across Haryana with Public Service Activities

Kumari Selja’s 64th birthday was marked across Haryana through public-service and community programmes, with Congress workers and supporters organising blood donation camps, religious ceremonies and distribution of fruits and sweets among senior citizens, patients, needy people and visually impaired children.
Supporters Gather at Hisar Residence
Supporters from different parts of the state reached Selja’s residence at Dabra Chowk in Hisar, carrying flowers, bouquets and sweets and extending greetings for her health and long life. Cake-cutting was also organised in the presence of supporters. Similar programmes were held in New Delhi, Panchkula and other parts of Haryana by Congress leaders, office-bearers and workers.
Selja said her birthday was not merely an occasion for personal celebration but also a day to reiterate her responsibilities and commitments towards the people. She said a person in public life has a responsibility to raise the voice of every section of society and stand with those who need support. She also appealed to workers to remain dedicated to public service and organisational work.
“I consider workers my family,” Selja said, according to the statement issued on the occasion. She expressed gratitude to workers, supporters and well-wishers for the affection and greetings extended to her.
The celebrations were also marked by participation from leaders and workers in Panchkula. Those named in the programme included MLA Chander Mohan, former MLA Pradeep Chaudhary, former MLA Shamsher Singh Gogi, Sudha Bhardwaj, Shyam Sunder Batra, Narpal Singh Gurjar, Devender Singh, advocate Lal Bahadur Khowal and Arvind Sharma. Messages of greeting also continued on social media through the day.
Havan and Service Activities in Sirsa
In Sirsa, a havan-yajna was organised at the Congress Bhawan, with participants praying for Selja’s long and healthy life. PCC delegate Rajesh Chadiwal said party office-bearers and members of the legal cell, Mahila Congress, District Youth Congress and NSUI took part in the programme and offered prayers.
Following the religious ceremony, workers cut a cake amid drum beats and distributed sweets. Service activities were also organised at a leprosy rehabilitation centre, Sanatan Dharam Temple and Bhai Kanhaiya Ashram, where fruits and sweets were distributed.

Khowal Calls Birthday a Day of Social Service
Advocate Lal Bahadur Khowal, state chairman of the AICC Legal Department, described Selja’s birthday as an occasion to continue work for social harmony, public service and the rights of weaker sections. He referred to her long public life and active engagement with public issues.
Khowal also expressed the view that people in Haryana want to see Selja as Chief Minister of the state. That statement represents Khowal’s political assessment and was made in the context of the birthday programme.
