Mayor warns of property sealing from September 1 as Municipal Corporation urges defaulters to clear dues under one-time settlement scheme

The Haryana Government has extended another opportunity for property owners to clear their pending property tax dues by announcing a 75 per cent waiver on interest for those making a one-time payment on or before August 31, 2026.
Announcing the scheme, Mayor Suman Bahmani and Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad urged taxpayers to take advantage of the relief, warning that strict enforcement measures, including sealing of properties, will begin from September 1 against persistent defaulters.
Officials said the concession applies to outstanding property tax dues for the financial years 2010-11 to 2024-25. Taxpayers who deposit the entire outstanding amount before the deadline will receive a 75 per cent waiver on the interest accumulated on their dues.
The civic authorities noted that the government had earlier introduced a 100 per cent interest waiver for one-time payments made between June 1 and June 30. During that period, taxpayers deposited nearly ₹16.40 crore in property tax and ₹1.46 crore in fire tax. However, a large number of property owners failed to avail themselves of the earlier scheme, prompting the government to extend fresh relief with a reduced interest waiver.

The Municipal Corporation clarified that property owners can deposit their dues at Citizen Facilitation Centres located at the Municipal Corporation offices in Jagadhri, Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk.
Officials also stated that the benefit will be available only to taxpayers who clear their outstanding dues within the stipulated period and complete the self-verification of their properties as required under the scheme.
Mayor Suman Bahmani appealed to all property owners to utilise the concession before the deadline to avoid legal action and additional financial burden.
Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad cautioned that after August 31, the full amount of interest will become payable, and the Municipal Corporation will initiate recovery proceedings against major defaulters, including the sealing of commercial and residential properties wherever necessary.
The Municipal Corporation has urged citizens to settle their dues well before the deadline to avoid inconvenience and contribute to the city’s revenue for civic development and public services.
