With enthusiasm building ahead of Haryana’s statewide anti-drug campaign, Yamunanagar Market Committee Chairman Rakesh Tyagi has described Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as an inspiration for the youth, saying his sustained efforts to eliminate drug abuse are encouraging thousands of young people to embrace a healthier and more positive lifestyle.
Speaking ahead of the Anti-Drug Marathon scheduled for July 26, Tyagi said the overwhelming response to the campaign demonstrates the growing commitment of people across Haryana to fight the menace of drugs. The marathon will be flagged off by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who has been leading the state’s awareness drive against substance abuse.
Tyagi said the level of public participation has been highly encouraging, with nearly 60,000 registrations already received for the event. According to him, the enthusiasm is visible not only among young people but also among citizens from every age group, making the campaign a true community movement.
“The Chief Minister is personally committed to making Haryana drug-free. His continuous efforts are motivating young people to choose sports, fitness and constructive activities instead of addiction,” Tyagi said.
He added that Nayab Singh Saini has consistently appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and has launched several awareness initiatives to encourage healthy living. According to Tyagi, such programmes are playing a vital role in inspiring the younger generation to channel their energy towards nation-building and personal development.
Highlighting the social impact of substance abuse, Tyagi said drug addiction has emerged as one of the biggest challenges facing society today. He noted that countless families have suffered due to addiction, making it essential for every citizen to actively participate in awareness campaigns aimed at preventing drug abuse.
“The fight against drugs is not just the responsibility of the government or law enforcement agencies. It is a social movement that requires the active participation of every individual, especially the youth,” he said.
Tyagi emphasised that the primary objective of the anti-drug campaign is to create a healthier society by encouraging young people to use their talent, energy and potential in positive and productive ways.
Appealing to residents of Yamunanagar and neighbouring areas, he urged eligible participants to register in large numbers and become part of the marathon, describing it as an opportunity to send a strong message against substance abuse.
He also said members associated with the Market Committee would actively participate in the event and extend full support to the administration’s efforts to make the campaign a grand success.
The district administration expects the marathon to witness record participation as government departments, educational institutions, social organisations and local communities continue to mobilise support for Haryana’s mission of building a drug-free future.
