Police register missing person case after couple and their two children fail to return home as promised

A couple and their two children from the Jagadhri police station area of Yamunanagar district have gone missing under mysterious circumstances after leaving home on August 10, reportedly to attend a friend’s wedding in Jalandhar. The family had told relatives that they would return within four to five days, but they have not returned or contacted their family since then. Following a complaint from the family, police have registered a missing person case and launched a search operation.
According to the complaint filed with the police, 39-year-old Rakesh Kumar, who works in steel sales and purchase, lives separately with his wife Pooja Rani and their two children, nine-year-old Minakshi and 14-year-old Mukul. The family reportedly resides near Agarwal Metal, behind Kali Mata Temple.
Family members said Rakesh left home on August 10 along with his wife and children after informing them that they were going to Jalandhar to attend a friend’s wedding. He reportedly told the family that they would return within four or five days.
Rakesh’s cousin Virender Kumar reportedly accompanied the family to Jagadhri bus stand before their departure. According to Virender, he asked Rakesh about the reason for travelling to Jalandhar during the journey, but Rakesh became upset over the question. Virender said he eventually left all four family members at the bus stand and saw them board a bus heading towards Chandigarh.
When the family did not return even after the expected period had passed, relatives began searching for them at various possible locations and contacted acquaintances. However, no information regarding their whereabouts could be obtained.
Family members also attempted to contact Rakesh and Pooja on their mobile phones, but both phones were found switched off. Concerned about the sudden loss of contact, the family approached the police and reported the matter.
Police have initiated an investigation and are attempting to trace the missing family through relatives, possible destinations and available technical resources. Investigators are also checking information related to their movements after leaving Jagadhri.
At present, the reason behind the family’s sudden disappearance and their failure to contact relatives remains unclear. Police are continuing efforts to establish their whereabouts and gather information that may help determine what happened after they left Jagadhri.
The family’s disappearance has caused concern among relatives, who are awaiting information about the couple and their children. Police have appealed for any information that could help trace the missing persons to be shared with the authorities.
