Dr Sanjeev Mehta receives Governor’s honour for the organisation’s outstanding contribution to voluntary blood donation

Smile Foundation has been honoured for its outstanding contribution to voluntary blood donation in Yamunanagar, after the organisation collected 3,990 units of blood through 110 blood donation camps during 2025-26.
The organisation was honoured during the Independence Day Event on August 15, where Governor Aseem Kumar Ghosh presented the recognition to Smile Foundation. The award was received by the organisation’s president, Dr Sanjeev Mehta.
Speaking about the recognition, Dr Mehta said the honour was not merely an achievement for one individual or organisation but a recognition of the thousands of voluntary blood donors who have consistently supported Smile Foundation’s blood donation initiatives.
He said Smile Foundation has launched the “Mission Rakt Kranti Hindustan – Har Ghar Raktdata, Ghar Ghar Raktdata” campaign with the objective of encouraging every household to have at least one voluntary blood donor who can come forward whenever an emergency blood requirement arises.
Dr Mehta said the campaign aims to create a strong culture of voluntary blood donation across society. Drawing a parallel with the Green Revolution and White Revolution, he said efforts are being made to create a similar “Blood Revolution” by motivating people to donate blood and ensuring that an adequate network of voluntary donors is available during emergencies.
He said the organisation is conducting an increasing number of blood donation camps as part of this mission and is working to spread awareness about the importance of regular voluntary blood donation.
“Blood has no substitute, and timely availability of blood can save a life,” Dr Mehta said, emphasising the need for more people to associate themselves with voluntary blood donation.
He expressed gratitude to all donors, volunteers, social organisations and residents of Yamunanagar who have supported the foundation’s initiatives. He said the recognition received on Independence Day is a matter of pride not only for Smile Foundation but also for every blood donor associated with its campaign.
Dr Mehta added that the organisation would continue its efforts to strengthen the voluntary blood donation network and encourage more people to become regular donors so that patients and their families do not have to struggle for blood during emergencies.
The achievement of collecting 3,990 units through 110 camps during the year reflects the growing participation of people in voluntary blood donation and the foundation’s continued efforts to promote the cause in Yamunanagar.
