Organisation adopts new name, announces new executive committee and national artists’ felicitation ceremony on August 30

Preparations for this year’s grand Ramlila in Chandigarh have officially begun, with the newly renamed Jai Shri Ramlila Manch announcing that the annual theatrical presentation of the epic Ramayana will be staged from October 10 to October 21, 2026, at Sector-48 Ground.
The decision was taken unanimously during a meeting of the executive committee held at Pink Rose Society, where members also approved the formation of a new governing body and announced that the organisation would now function under the name Jai Shri Ramlila Manch.
The organisers explained that the earlier name, Shri Ramsevak Yuva Kala Manch, has since been registered by another organisation. As a result, the group, which has been actively organising Ramlila performances in Sector-48 for the past three years, will now continue its activities under the new banner while maintaining the same commitment to preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of Lord Ram.
The newly constituted executive committee elected Harmohinder Singh Lucky as Chairman, Rahul Bamba as Chief Patron, Vikas Soni as President and Amit Suri as General Secretary.
Other appointments include J.J. Singh, Ish Sharma, Ajit Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Mohit Kumar and Manit Sharma as Senior Vice-Presidents, while Rohit Kumar, Brajmohan Setia, Vinod Handa and Munjal have been appointed Vice-Presidents.

The committee also named Manpreet Singh as Joint Secretary, Dr Pankaj Shastri as Stage Secretary, Deepak Girhotra and Manpreet Singh as Legal Advisors, Pradeep Kumar as Director, Kamlesh Kumar as Press Secretary, and Dr Lokesh Sharma as Treasurer. Jaskaran Singh, Jatin and Preeti have been entrusted with responsibilities related to music and vocal performances.
Following a ceremonial prayer, Art Director Pradeep Kumar announced that this year’s production would once again be jointly presented by Jai Shri Ramlila Manch and Manthan Arts. He said last year’s performances, which blended traditional storytelling with modern theatrical techniques, received an overwhelming response from audiences across the city.
President Vikas Soni said the 2026 edition of the Ramlila will feature advanced theatrical technology, including state-of-the-art lighting, sound effects and enhanced stage presentation to provide spectators with an immersive cultural experience while preserving the authenticity of the Ramayana.
The organisers also announced that, continuing a tradition established over the past two years, a grand felicitation ceremony for Ramlila artists from across the country will be held on August 30, 2026, at the Mini Auditorium, Tagore Theatre, to honour artists who have made significant contributions to preserving India’s rich theatrical and religious traditions.
The meeting concluded with members reaffirming their commitment to promoting Indian culture, spiritual values and traditional performing arts through professionally organised Ramlila productions that continue to attract audiences of all age groups.
