Students participate in a special voter registration and awareness camp at Government College, Ahdawalla, Vyaspur
Students encouraged to register as voters and actively participate in the democratic process under Special Intensive Revision campaign

A special camp for the registration of new voters was organised at Government College, Ahdawalla, Vyaspur, under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities being conducted as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls launched by the Election Commission of India.
The camp was organised in accordance with the directions of Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Electoral Registration Officer and SDM, Vyaspur, with the objective of encouraging eligible young people to register themselves as voters and become active participants in the democratic process.
During the camp, the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and Principal of Government College, Ahdawalla, interacted with students and provided them with information about the Special Intensive Revision campaign. Students were informed about the importance of accurate electoral rolls and the process of getting their names included in the voter list.
The students were particularly encouraged to register as voters if they had completed 18 years of age. The officials explained that becoming a registered voter is an important democratic responsibility and urged eligible students to complete the necessary formalities for obtaining their voter registration.
Addressing the students, the college authorities emphasised that young people constitute an important part of India’s democratic system. Their participation in elections not only strengthens democracy but also ensures that the views and aspirations of the younger generation are represented in the electoral process.
Students were also sensitised to the importance of exercising their right to vote responsibly. They were encouraged to remain aware of electoral procedures, verify their names in the electoral rolls and ensure that their voter-related information remains accurate.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. The programme provided them with an opportunity to learn about voter registration and the importance of electoral participation while also encouraging them to spread awareness among other eligible young people.
As part of the activities conducted during the programme, students also participated enthusiastically in the related awareness activities. Namita (M.Com.), Rashi (M.Com.), Saloni (BCA) and Sarvjeet Kaur (B.A.) demonstrated outstanding performance and secured the first position.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Sarvjeet Kaur, Principal, Government College, Ahdawalla, honoured the winning students and appreciated their participation and performance.
The organisers said that such voter-awareness programmes play an important role in connecting young citizens with the democratic process. Educational institutions, they said, provide an ideal platform for creating awareness among first-time voters and helping them understand their rights and responsibilities.
The Special Intensive Revision campaign is also aimed at ensuring that eligible citizens are included in electoral rolls while helping maintain the accuracy and integrity of voter lists. Students were encouraged to convey the information received during the camp to their families and communities so that other eligible citizens can also participate in the voter registration process.
The programme concluded successfully with a message that every eligible citizen should register as a voter and participate actively and responsibly in democracy.
