Yamunanagar Anti-Narcotics Cell Arrests Youth With Heroin Worth ₹60 Lakh

Police say 300 grams of heroin was seized near Yamunanagar bus stand; accused allegedly arrived from Panipat to deliver the contraband

The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Yamunanagar Police has arrested a youth with 300 grams of heroin, or smack, allegedly valued at around ₹60 lakh, following a late-night operation near Green Park close to the Yamunanagar bus stand. According to DSP Rajat Gulia, the accused was allegedly preparing to deliver the narcotic substance to another person in the city.

Gulia said the action was carried out under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district police’s continuing drive against drug trafficking. A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and he was produced before a court and taken on police remand for further investigation.

Police Act on Secret Information»

According to the police, Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Anil Kumar received information that a youth was moving around Green Park near the Yamunanagar bus stand with the intention of selling narcotic substances. Acting on the information, a team was constituted under Sub-Inspector Satish Kumar, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Jasvir Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Manjit, Ravi Dutt, Sonu and Ashish.

The team reached the location and detained the youth who was allegedly moving around the area. Police said Duty Magistrate and Nayyab Tehsildar Ravinder of Vyasarpur was called to the spot before the search was conducted. During the search, police allegedly recovered 300 grams of heroin from the suspect.

Accused Identified as Panipat Resident»

Police identified the accused as Danish, son of Dilshad, a resident of Jalalpur in Panipat district. The police said the seized heroin was estimated to be worth around ₹60 lakh. A case was registered under the NDPS Act following the recovery, and the accused was subsequently produced before the court and taken on remand.

DSP Rajat Gulia said preliminary investigation indicated that the accused had allegedly travelled from Panipat to Yamunanagar by bus carrying the narcotic substance. After getting down at the bus stand, he was allegedly waiting to deliver the heroin to someone in the city when the Anti-Narcotics Cell team acted on the information and arrested him.

Previous Drug Case Also Under Trial»

Police further said that a previous case related to drug trafficking is already registered against the accused and is pending before the court. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the latest alleged recovery and are expected to question the accused during the remand period.

The investigation is also expected to focus on the alleged source of the narcotic substance, its intended recipient and any possible links in the supply chain. The police have said that further details will emerge as the investigation progresses.
