PO Staff team apprehends court-declared fugitive AnkIt after a confidential tip; accused sent to judicial custody

The Yamunanagar district police have intensified their special drive against proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers, with the Proclaimed Offender (PO) Staff arresting another accused who had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court. The accused was arrested following a confidential tip and was subsequently produced before the court, which sent him to judicial custody, police said.
According to the police spokesperson, the district police are conducting a special campaign to trace and apprehend accused persons who have been declared absconders by courts or have failed to comply with judicial proceedings. The latest arrest was made under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the continuing effort to strengthen law enforcement and ensure that persons evading the legal process are brought before the courts.
The operation was conducted by a dedicated team of the PO Staff under the leadership of Inspector Rajpal, the unit’s in-charge. A special team comprising ASI Ashwini, Head Constables Sandeep, Mahavir and Rajat, along with Woman Constable Amanpreet Kaur, was constituted to locate the wanted accused.
Police said the team acted on specific confidential information and successfully apprehended Ankit, son of Naseeb Singh, a resident of Tirath Nagar, Bari Majra. The police said Ankit was wanted in connection with a criminal case and had subsequently been declared a proclaimed offender by the competent court after he failed to appear before it.
According to the police, the accused had been evading arrest and was allegedly attempting to remain out of the reach of the law. The PO Staff continued efforts to trace him and eventually succeeded in apprehending him on the basis of the information received.
Following his arrest, Ankit was taken through the required legal process and produced before the court. He was subsequently sent to judicial custody.
The police said the arrest forms part of the district-wide campaign against proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers. Such campaigns are aimed at ensuring that accused persons who evade court proceedings do not remain beyond the reach of the criminal justice system for prolonged periods.
Proclaimed offenders are individuals against whom courts have taken specific action after they fail to appear despite legal proceedings. Locating such persons requires continuous field-level intelligence, verification of information and coordinated efforts by police teams. The PO Staff has been carrying out such operations as part of the district police’s efforts to enforce court orders and strengthen accountability.
The latest operation was based on confidential information received by the PO Staff. Police personnel acted on the information and deployed the team to apprehend the accused. The police said the team’s alertness and coordinated efforts played an important role in locating and arresting Ankit.
The district police have emphasised that action against persons evading the judicial process will continue. The special campaign covers proclaimed offenders as well as bail jumpers and other accused persons who are required to appear before courts but remain unavailable.
SP Kamaldeep Goyal appreciated the work of the PO Staff team and its efforts in apprehending the proclaimed offender. He said the district police would continue the campaign against criminals and persons evading legal proceedings with strictness.
Goyal said sustained action against wanted accused persons is necessary to strengthen law and order and ensure confidence in the legal system. He stressed that police teams would continue to work on available information and intelligence to trace people wanted in criminal cases.
The police spokesperson said the district police are maintaining continued efforts to identify and apprehend accused persons who have been declared proclaimed offenders by courts. The PO Staff plays a specialised role in tracing such individuals and taking them through the appropriate legal process.
