Anti-Narcotic Cell arrests alleged supplier and intended recipient; both booked under NDPS Act and taken on remand

The Yamunanagar district police have arrested two youths in connection with an alleged narcotics supply case and recovered 50 grams of heroin, also referred to as smack, during an operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotic Cell. The police said the action was carried out as part of an ongoing drive against drug trafficking under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal.
According to the police spokesperson, district police teams have been conducting sustained action against people allegedly involved in the illegal trade and supply of narcotic substances. In the latest operation, the Anti-Narcotic Cell received information about a youth allegedly carrying a quantity of narcotics on a motorcycle near Raipur.
Acting on the information, a team was constituted under the leadership of ASI Rajendra Singh, with Pankaj, Sultan, Manjeet and Satbir as members. The team proceeded to the location and intercepted the motorcycle-borne suspect on the basis of the information received.
The police said a duty magistrate was called to the spot before the search of the detained youth was conducted. During the search, the team allegedly recovered 50 grams of heroin (smack) from his possession.
The arrested suspect was identified as Pratap Singh alias Anu, son of Netrapal, a resident of Nahar Pur. Following the recovery, the police questioned the suspect about the source and intended destination of the alleged narcotic substance.
According to the police, questioning revealed that the recovered substance was allegedly meant to be supplied to Ankush, a resident of Nagal. Acting on the information obtained during the investigation, the police team proceeded against the alleged intended recipient and arrested him as well.
The police said both suspects have been booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were produced before a court and taken on remand for further investigation.
The police are now investigating the alleged supply chain and the circumstances surrounding the recovered narcotic substance. Investigators are expected to examine the source from which the heroin was allegedly obtained, its intended distribution and whether other individuals were connected with the transaction.
The latest arrests form part of the district police’s continuing efforts to identify and take action against individuals allegedly involved in the supply and distribution of illegal narcotics. Police officials have reiterated that teams across the district are maintaining surveillance and acting on information related to drug trafficking.

The police said the second arrest was made after questioning the first suspect allegedly indicated that the substance was intended for Ankush. Both arrests are now being investigated as part of the same alleged narcotics supply chain.
Officials said the investigation remains underway and further details may emerge as the police examine the circumstances of the alleged transaction. The suspects have been taken on remand for questioning and investigation into the case.
