Essay, Painting and Quiz Competitions Highlight Freedom Struggle, National Flag and Responsible Citizenship

The Municipal Corporation organised a special awareness programme at Nehru Park for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and school students as part of activities linked to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the Independence Day celebrations.
The programme combined patriotic awareness with creative educational activities, giving students an opportunity to express their understanding of Independence Day, the national flag and the values associated with India’s freedom struggle through essays, paintings and quiz participation.
The event was organised under the directions of Mayor Suman Bahmani and Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad. Students participated enthusiastically in the various competitions and used their creative skills to convey messages of patriotism, national unity and respect for the Tricolour.
The organisers said that the programme was intended not only to celebrate the approach of Independence Day but also to provide students with an opportunity to understand the significance of the occasion.
During the programme, essay writing, painting and quiz competitions were organised for the students. The activities encouraged children to think about India’s freedom movement, the significance of the national flag and the responsibilities that come with being citizens of a democratic country.
Students expressed their ideas through both words and colours. Their paintings and essays reflected themes related to national pride, the Tricolour, India’s unity and the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle.
The quiz competition also provided students with an interactive opportunity to test and expand their knowledge about India’s national symbols, history and Independence Day.
Municipal Corporation Social Media In-charge Mukta, MIS Kamalveer Singh and Kamaldeep Singh were present during the programme and encouraged the participating students.
The officials interacted with students and appreciated their enthusiasm and creative efforts. They also motivated them to continue taking part in educational and community-oriented activities.
All students who participated in the competitions were presented with gifts and prizes as a gesture of encouragement.
The organisers said that recognising participation was important because such activities are designed not only to identify winners but also to encourage more children to participate confidently in educational and creative programmes.
The central objective of the programme was to strengthen the feeling of patriotism among students while creating awareness about India’s freedom struggle, the importance of the national flag and the responsibilities of citizens.

Speaking during the programme, Social Media In-charge Mukta said that Independence Day is an opportunity to remember the sacrifices of the country’s brave freedom fighters and to draw inspiration from their ideals.
She said students should have a basic understanding of the country’s history and freedom movement and should recognise their own role in strengthening national unity and integrity.
According to her, the younger generation has an important role to play in shaping India’s future. Students can contribute to the country not only through academic achievement but also by becoming responsible citizens who respect the rights of others and contribute positively to society.
Mukta encouraged students to learn more about India’s freedom struggle and understand why national symbols such as the Tricolour hold such an important place in the country’s collective identity.
She also emphasised that respect for the national flag should be reflected in responsible behaviour and awareness of its dignity.
MIS Kamalveer Singh said that creative activities are particularly valuable in strengthening patriotic feelings among children.
He said programmes involving essay writing, painting and quizzes give students an opportunity to learn while simultaneously allowing them to demonstrate their individual abilities.
According to him, such activities help create an environment where students can express their thoughts on important national issues in a constructive manner.
Kamalveer Singh also called upon students to respect the national flag, maintain cleanliness around their homes and schools and contribute towards creating a clean, attractive and responsible city.
He said that citizenship involves more than enjoying the rights provided by society. It also involves fulfilling responsibilities towards the community and the country.
Students were encouraged to keep their surroundings clean and avoid activities that contribute to environmental degradation. The message of cleanliness was linked with the broader idea of responsible citizenship and community participation.
