World Rabies Day Awareness Programme Held at Civil Hospital Jagadhri
A special awareness programme was organised at Civil Hospital, Jagadhri, on the occasion of World Rabies Day to educate the public about rabies prevention, precautions following animal bites and the importance of seeking timely medical treatment. The programme focused on practical steps that can help reduce the risk of rabies and encouraged people not to ignore bites or scratches from potentially infected animals.
Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Jagadhri, Anuj Mangla, was specially present during the programme. Representatives of the Dog Rescue Organisation, including Nakul Goyal, Monica Gulati, Dhruv, Anshul and Paras, also participated and shared messages aimed at improving public awareness about responsible animal care and rabies prevention.

During the programme, people were advised that if they are bitten or scratched by a suspected animal, the affected area should be washed immediately and thoroughly with soap and running water. They were also advised to reach a hospital or qualified medical professional without delay for appropriate assessment and treatment.
Participants were also informed about rabies vaccination, post-bite medical care and common misconceptions associated with the disease. The awareness message stressed that an animal bite should not be taken lightly and that timely medical advice is important after a potentially risky exposure.
Nakul Goyal of the Dog Rescue Organisation said rabies is a serious but preventable disease and appealed to people to obtain medical assistance promptly after an animal bite. He also urged pet owners to ensure timely rabies vaccination of their dogs and encouraged responsible behaviour towards animals.

During the programme, participants took a pledge to adopt preventive measures against rabies and help spread awareness in the community. The Dog Rescue Organisation expressed its gratitude to Anuj Mangla and the Civil Hospital Jagadhri administration for organising the awareness initiative and extending cooperation in the public interest.
Meeting Reviews TB Prevention and Immunisation Awareness »
Separately, under the Seva Sankalp campaign, a meeting was held at Civil Hospital Yamunanagar to strengthen information, communication and awareness activities related to tuberculosis prevention and immunisation. The meeting brought together doctors, ANMs and members of the TB and RBSK teams associated with Sub-Civil Hospital Jagadhri, CHC Mukherjee Park and Ganganagar.
Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Charu Kalra was also present at the meeting. The participating teams were directed to strengthen efforts for TB prevention and improve immunisation coverage across the district. The meeting emphasised coordinated field-level work and continued public communication so that eligible people receive timely information and access to available health services.
The twin awareness initiatives highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, timely intervention and community participation. While the World Rabies Day programme focused on reducing risks associated with animal bites and promoting responsible pet care, the health meeting under the Seva Sankalp campaign addressed the broader need to improve awareness around TB prevention and immunisation.
