Bhagat Singh’s Birth Anniversary Marked with Tribute Programme in Yamunanagar
Yamunanagar observed the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh with a tribute programme at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, where participants paid floral tributes to the revolutionary icon and lit a ceremonial lamp. The programme was organised under the guidance of MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora and BJP district president Rajesh Sapra, with slogans of “Shaheed Bhagat Singh Amar Rahe” creating a patriotic atmosphere.
The gathering brought together public representatives, members of social organisations and local residents who remembered Bhagat Singh’s life, struggle and supreme sacrifice for India’s freedom. Speakers said his commitment to the nation and his revolutionary ideas continue to inspire society and remain particularly relevant for younger generations.
Speaker Roshan Lal Sharma said the sacrifices of freedom fighters should inspire elected representatives and the administration to work in the larger national interest and extend support to people in need. He said remembrance of martyrs should not remain limited to ceremonial programmes but should also encourage responsible public service and concern for society.
Sharma also raised an issue concerning the statue of Bhagat Singh at the city’s main chowk. He alleged that the statue has remained covered with cloth for a long period and termed the delay in its unveiling disrespectful to the memory of the revolutionary. He demanded an inquiry into the matter and action against those found responsible.
Sharma further said that if the administration failed to address the issue, he would personally ensure the respectful unveiling of the statue on Dussehra. His remarks highlighted the demand for completing the installation and public unveiling process at the earliest.

Councillor Vibhor Pahuja paid homage to Bhagat Singh and spoke about his life, revolutionary struggle and sacrifice. He said the demand raised by residents regarding the statue was justified and assured those present that efforts would be made to facilitate its early unveiling at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk.
The president of the Freedom Fighters’ Families Welfare Association also expressed concern over the delay in unveiling the statue. He said the statue had remained covered for a considerable period, which had caused resentment among sections of city residents.
Speaker KK Sharma also called for the statue to be unveiled at the earliest, saying that the memory of Bhagat Singh should be reflected through proper public recognition of his contribution and sacrifice.
Balram Mittal, Satish Dutta, Vinod Sharma, Sanjeev Kamboj, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Sushil Kumar Malik, Chand Gambhir, Brijpal, Rajnish Kumar and Subey Singh were among those who paid their respects to Bhagat Singh during the programme.
The programme concluded with participants paying their respects to Bhagat Singh and recalling his contribution to India’s freedom struggle. Speakers emphasised that his legacy should continue to inspire public responsibility, national service and concern for society.
