In a major anti-drug operation, the Yamunanagar Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested three alleged drug traffickers and seized 105 grams of heroin (smack) in two separate late-night operations. Police estimated the value of the recovered contraband at around ₹5 lakh. All three accused were produced before a court and remanded in police custody for further interrogation.
According to the police, the first operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs that a man was waiting near Mandoli Mor on the Panchkula-Saharanpur Highway to sell narcotics. Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Sub-Inspector Om Prakash, along with ASI Kuldeep, Lalit and Jaipal, reached the spot and apprehended the suspect.
The accused was identified as Rajat Kumar, a resident of Ashok Vihar Colony in Gandhi Nagar. During the search, police allegedly recovered 45 grams of heroin from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act was registered, and the accused was remanded in police custody for further investigation.
In another operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell received information that two men were transporting narcotics from Uttar Pradesh into Haryana through the Kalanour border on a motorcycle. A police team laid a checkpoint at the border and intercepted the suspects after a brief chase when they allegedly attempted to flee.
In the presence of Duty Magistrate Tehsildar Amit, police searched the two men and recovered 30 grams of heroin from each, taking the total recovery in the second operation to 60 grams. The accused were identified as Shravan Kumar, a resident of Budhiya Dayalgarh, and Rukhsar, son of Mohammad Rafiq.
Police said both men were allegedly bringing the narcotics from Uttar Pradesh for distribution in the district. Separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered against them.
Anti-Narcotics Cell In-charge Anil Kumar said the accused are being questioned to identify the source of the heroin, trace the intended recipients and determine whether they have links to larger drug trafficking networks. Police are also verifying their previous criminal records as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Yamunanagar Police reiterated that its campaign against drug trafficking will continue with intensified action against those involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
