Officials hear grievances on solar meter, illegal construction and residential nuisance

Three complaints were received during the Samadhan Camp organised at the District Secretariat in Yamunanagar on Monday, as part of the state government’s initiative to ensure the speedy resolution of public grievances.
The camp was held under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Preeti and chaired by District Secretariat Superintendent Anoop Kumar. The administration conducts the Samadhan Camps every Monday and Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon at both district and sub-divisional levels.
During Monday’s camp, Yamunanagar resident Vinod Kumar Jindal raised the issue of installation of a solar meter. Rajendra Singh, a resident of Sabapur, sought action regarding alleged illegal construction, while Model Town resident Gurcharan Singh brought before the officials a problem allegedly arising from bamboo trees planted at Sant Nischal Singh Public School and their impact on nearby residential houses.
Officials concerned were apprised of the grievances for appropriate action. The administration said the objective of the Samadhan Camps is to provide citizens with a direct platform to present their problems and ensure their resolution within a stipulated timeframe.
Special members of the Samadhan Camp, Kharaiti Lal Batra, Neeraj Gupta, Jagdish Babbar and Narendra Saini, along with officials from various departments, were present.
Guru Nanak Khalsa College hosts voter awareness programme under SVEEP initiative
A voter awareness programme was organised at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative in collaboration with the District Collector’s Office.
The programme aimed to educate students about the importance of voting, active participation in the democratic process and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
City Magistrate Piyush Gupta, Planning Officer Sanjay and Election Kanungo Vishal and Rajat represented the District Collector’s Office. Piyush Gupta delivered an interactive session on SIR and voter awareness, explaining the process of electoral roll revision, voting rights and the important role of young citizens in strengthening democracy.
An awareness video on SIR was also screened to explain the process to students in a simple and accessible manner. Students actively participated in the session and raised questions on various aspects of voter registration and electoral procedures.
To encourage creative participation, poster-making and slogan-writing competitions were also organised. Students presented posters and slogans highlighting the importance of voting, voter awareness and democratic values.
Ayushi, a BA first-year student, secured the first position. Riya of BA fifth semester stood second, while Alisha, a final-year student, and Ansh of BA second year jointly secured the third position.
College Principal Dr Arvinder Singh Bhalla, heads of various departments and faculty members attended the programme. Dr Bhalla thanked the District Collector’s Office officials and emphasised that increasing voting awareness among young people is essential for strengthening democracy.
He urged students to become informed and responsible voters and spread awareness about voting and electoral-roll procedures among their families and communities.
College Management Committee president Sardar Randeep Singh Johar also congratulated the organisers and said students should be encouraged to actively participate in the democratic process.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of students who performed well in the competitions, reinforcing the message: “Aware Voters, Strong Democracy.”
