A district-level teachers’ workshop under the National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2026 was organised in Kurukshetra to prepare educators for guiding students in scientific research and innovation. District Project Coordinator Krishan Kumar attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Block Education Officer Kamal Batra presided over the workshop.

Addressing the participants, Krishan Kumar said the National Children’s Science Congress provides an effective platform for nurturing scientific temperament, innovation, research aptitude and social responsibility among students. He urged schools to ensure maximum participation and encourage students to prepare quality projects based on local issues.

Block Education Officer Kamal Batra called upon teachers to promote experiment-based learning and scientific methods so that students could develop innovative solutions to real-life environmental and social challenges.

District Science Expert Dr. Tarsem Kaushik explained that the National Children’s Science Congress is a flagship science communication initiative of the National Council for Science and Technology Communication under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He said the programme aims to strengthen scientific outlook, research capability and problem-solving skills among students aged 10 to 17 years, who work in pairs under teacher guidance.

He elaborated on the 2026–27 theme, “Science and Innovation for Sustainable Development,” highlighting sub-themes such as water conservation and recycling, energy, food, agriculture, health and Indian knowledge systems for sustainable development.

District Coordinator Sunita Saini demonstrated the online registration process and explained documentation requirements, project selection, report writing, scientific methodology, presentation techniques and evaluation criteria. She informed participants that the competition would be conducted at school, block, district, state and national levels.

Among those present were APC Pradeep Kumar, Resource Persons Dr. Pawan Kumar, Jitender Singh, Anuradha, Nidhi and Rajesh Kundu, along with science teachers from government schools across the district. Participants also interacted with experts to clarify their queries regarding project preparation and participation.
