The TDTR DAV Institute of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation, Yamuna Nagar, organised a series of academic, creative and awareness programmes on September 9, 2026, as part of the second day of its two-day World Physiotherapy Day 2026 celebrations. Students, faculty members and invited guests participated enthusiastically in the programmes, which focused on medical advancements, innovation, academic excellence and the wider role of physiotherapy in promoting healthy living and rehabilitation.

The day’s programme began with a special medical seminar on “Recent Advancements in Brain & Spine Surgery”, featuring Dr Prashant Maskara, MS, M.Ch. (Neurosurgery), OJAS Hospital, Panchkula, as the resource person.

Addressing the students, Dr Maskara discussed the latest developments taking place in the fields of brain and spine surgery and familiarised them with modern surgical technologies and treatment approaches. His interaction provided students with an opportunity to understand how advances in neurosurgery are influencing patient care and recovery.

Dr Maskara also highlighted the important role of physiotherapy in helping patients achieve better health outcomes and rehabilitation after surgery. He emphasised the importance of coordination between neurosurgeons and physiotherapists, particularly during the recovery and rehabilitation process. Such multidisciplinary cooperation, he said, can play an important role in ensuring comprehensive care for patients.

The seminar also provided students with valuable exposure to the evolving relationship between advanced surgical intervention and post-operative rehabilitation. The interaction encouraged students to expand their understanding beyond classroom learning and appreciate the practical role of physiotherapy in modern healthcare.

The celebrations also featured a Poster Making Competition and a Working Model Competition, organised by the institute in collaboration with the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) and IAP Women Cell, Yamuna Nagar.

The common theme for both competitions was “The Sedentary Heart – Breaking the Cycle of Inactivity Through Physiotherapy.” Students presented their ideas through creative posters and practical working models, focusing on the harmful effects of sedentary lifestyles and the importance of regular physical activity, exercise and physiotherapy in maintaining cardiovascular health and overall well-being.

The entries reflected the students’ scientific thinking, creativity, practical understanding and innovative approach. Through their models and visual presentations, the participants sought to communicate how inactivity can affect health and how regular movement and appropriate physiotherapy interventions can contribute to a healthier lifestyle.

The competitions also provided students with an opportunity to combine academic knowledge with creativity and practical application. The emphasis on inactivity and physical activity was particularly relevant to the broader objective of physiotherapy awareness, as the profession plays an important role in encouraging mobility, preventing functional limitations and supporting rehabilitation.

Students who performed exceptionally well in the competitions were honoured with prizes by Dr Himanshu Shekhar, Principal. Appreciating their efforts, he encouraged students to continue developing innovative and useful ideas in the field of physiotherapy and to use their academic knowledge to address real-world health challenges.

Another major highlight of the day’s programme was the University Toppers Felicitation Ceremony. Students from BPT First Year to BPT Final Year who secured first, second and third positions in the Annual University Examinations were recognised for their outstanding academic performance.

The meritorious students were presented awards by Vijay Kapoor, Chairman, DAV Schools, Yamuna Nagar; Dr Prashant Maskara; and Dr Himanshu Shekhar, Principal. The guests congratulated the achievers and encouraged them to maintain the same level of dedication and excellence in their future academic and professional careers.

The felicitation ceremony served as an important part of the celebrations by recognising sustained academic effort and motivating other students to strive for higher standards. The institute also used the occasion to underline the importance of academic excellence alongside practical skills and professional competence in physiotherapy.

The final segment of the programme featured a Physiotherapy Awareness Skit presented by members of the DAV Physiotherapy Rotaract Club. The performance conveyed important messages about the significance of physiotherapy, physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices.

Through the skit, students highlighted issues related to disability prevention and rehabilitation and sought to create greater public understanding of the role physiotherapy can play in improving quality of life. The engaging presentation attracted the attention of the audience and provided an effective platform for communicating health and rehabilitation messages in an accessible manner.

The performance also reflected the institute’s emphasis on community awareness and social responsibility. By using a creative format, the students demonstrated how professional knowledge can be taken beyond academic settings and used to communicate important health messages to the wider community.

Dr Ruchika, Dr Mukesh, Dr Gagan, Dr Heena, Dr Anurag, Dr Manjyot, Dr Dheeraj and Sohan Lal, along with other faculty and staff members of the institute, were present during the programmes. Faculty members encouraged the students and extended their support for the successful conduct of the day’s activities.

The second day of the celebrations concluded with a collective commitment to providing better and more effective physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, increasing public awareness about physiotherapy and encouraging students to pursue innovation and excellence in their professional journey.

The two-day World Physiotherapy Day 2026 celebrations at TDTR DAV Institute of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation showcased the institution’s focus on academic excellence, innovation, professional collaboration, healthcare awareness, rehabilitation and social responsibility. The programmes brought together medical expertise, student creativity, academic achievement and community awareness, reinforcing the significance of physiotherapy in modern healthcare and rehabilitation.
