Creative models made from discarded materials promote recycling, sustainability and environmental awareness under Swachh Bharat Mission

In an effort to promote environmental sustainability and responsible waste management, the Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri organised a ‘Waste to Wonder’ exhibition at Holy Mother Public School, Kansapur (Ward 21) under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).
The initiative aimed to encourage students to explore the concepts of recycling, reuse and environmental conservation through creativity and innovation.
Held under the guidance of Mayor Suman Bahmani and Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad, the exhibition showcased a wide range of innovative models created by students using discarded and recyclable materials.
The exhibits highlighted themes such as environmental conservation, rainwater harvesting, border security and other social and scientific issues.

Through their creative projects, students demonstrated how waste materials can be transformed into meaningful and useful creations, reinforcing the importance of sustainable living and resource conservation.
During the programme, students and teachers took a pledge to promote cleanliness, protect the environment and adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.
Officials of the Swachh Bharat Mission also interacted with students, encouraging them to practise waste segregation at source, separate wet and dry waste, reduce the use of single-use plastics and maintain clean surroundings.
IEC Expert Akash Kumar and his team conducted an awareness session, urging students to become ambassadors of cleanliness by spreading the message of waste segregation and environmental responsibility within their homes and communities.
Mayor Suman Bahmani said initiatives such as the “Waste to Wonder” exhibition help nurture creativity while instilling a sense of environmental responsibility among children. Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad said the Swachh Bharat Mission is not limited to cleanliness alone but also focuses on scientific waste management and promoting a culture of recycling.
He encouraged students to take the message of waste segregation to every household and contribute towards building a cleaner and greener Yamunanagar.
