Yamunanagar Police Educate Students on Emergency Safety, Women’s Security and Traffic Rules at Mukand Lal National School

As part of its ongoing community outreach initiative, the Yamunanagar Police conducted a comprehensive awareness programme at Mukand Lal National Senior Secondary School, Model Town, educating students about emergency response services, women’s safety, cyber awareness, anti-drug initiatives and road safety.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamaldeep Goyal, who has directed district police teams to regularly visit schools and educational institutions to promote awareness about personal safety, legal rights and responsible citizenship among students.
According to the district police, the campaign aims to prepare young people to respond confidently during emergencies while encouraging them to become law-abiding and socially responsible citizens.
The awareness session was led by Safe City Team ASI Neelam, who interacted with a large number of students and explained various safety measures introduced by the Haryana Police.
During the session, ASI Neelam highlighted the importance of the 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), informing students that the helpline is available round the clock for police, ambulance and other emergency services. She encouraged students to immediately dial 112 whenever they or someone else requires urgent assistance.
Students were also introduced to the 112 India App, which enables users to seek emergency help quickly through their mobile phones. ASI Neelam demonstrated how the application can be downloaded and used during emergencies, making it easier for police to provide timely assistance.
A major focus of the programme was the Trip Monitoring facility, a safety feature designed especially for women and girl students travelling alone. She explained that users can share their travel details with the police through the application, allowing authorities to monitor the journey and respond immediately if any emergency arises. The feature significantly enhances women’s safety during solo travel and provides reassurance to both travellers and their families.
The awareness session also addressed the growing menace of drug abuse. ASI Neelam cautioned students about the harmful effects of narcotics on physical health, mental well-being, family life and future career prospects. She urged young people to stay away from addictive substances and become ambassadors of the state’s anti-drug campaign by spreading awareness among their friends and communities.
Road safety was another key topic discussed during the programme. Students were advised to strictly follow traffic regulations, wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, fasten seat belts while travelling in cars, obey speed limits and avoid using mobile phones while driving or crossing roads.
The police officer stressed that following traffic rules is not merely a legal obligation but a social responsibility that can save countless lives.
The interactive session concluded with students raising questions on emergency services, personal safety and traffic regulations. ASI Neelam responded to each query in detail, encouraging students to remain alert, informed and responsible in their daily lives.
The school management appreciated the initiative, stating that such awareness programmes help students develop confidence, improve their understanding of public safety mechanisms and encourage them to become responsible citizens. District Police officials said similar awareness programmes will continue to be organised across educational institutions in the district as part of the department’s ongoing public safety and youth outreach campaign.
