With more than 48,000 registrations already received, the Yamunanagar district administration has intensified preparations for the ‘Run Against Drugs – Yamunanagar Ke Sang’ marathon scheduled for July 26, urging citizens to transform the anti-drug campaign into a people’s movement.

Chairing a review meeting with officials from various departments, Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja directed all agencies to ensure seamless coordination for the successful conduct of the event, being organised under the Haryana Government’s ‘Nasha Chhodo, Jeevan Jodo’ campaign.

Ahuja said substance abuse poses a serious threat not only to individuals but also to families and society, stressing that young people should be encouraged towards education, sports and other constructive activities.

He instructed officials to complete all arrangements related to registration, security, traffic management, medical facilities, drinking water and other logistical requirements well in advance.

The marathon will be flagged off by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

According to the administration, 48,364 participants have registered so far, including 30,038 men and 18,285 women. Registration will remain open until 5 pm on July 24 through the official online portal and QR code.

To encourage participation, the government has announced cash prizes of ₹1 lakh, ₹75,000 and ₹51,000 for the top three finishers in both men’s and women’s categories. Participants finishing from fourth to tenth place will receive ₹5,100 each.

Calling for public participation, Ahuja said the campaign aims to build a drug-free Haryana through collective community action and youth engagement.

The Samadhan Shivir organised at the office of SDM Jaspal Singh Gill in Chhachhrauli on Monday focused on the timely redressal of public grievances, with officials directed to ensure prompt action on all complaints received.

A total of two complaints were registered during the camp and forwarded to the concerned departments for necessary action.

Gill said the Haryana Government’s grievance redressal initiative is aimed at providing citizens with a transparent and time-bound mechanism for resolving issues related to public services.

He informed that residents can bring complaints related to Family ID (PPP), ration cards, social security pensions, police matters, Panchayati Raj institutions and other government departments to the camps. Cases that can be resolved immediately are disposed of on the spot, while others are referred to the concerned departments for action within the prescribed timeline.

Officials from Public Health Engineering, Rural Development, Sports, Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, PWD, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Health and Food & Supplies departments attended the camp.
